Amanda is knowledgeable and utilizes the time you have together very well. She blended walking with catching a cab for efficiency as well as a ride on the river for a different perspective of the city. She provides great background to the sites visited without droning on and on. She was sensitive to the fact we had been up for more than 24 hours and checked frequently as to our energy level before offering the next place to visit. We had a wonderful day with her and would highly recommend Amanda.

Wonderful Day with John MC My wife and I spent a wonderful day with John as our tour guide on May 14, 2026. John took us to Edinburgh castle and Rosslyn Church, and drove us through all of Edinburgh. He was full of historical information, interesting facts and tidbits. John is a wealth of information about architecture of the castles and areas he took us to on this full day tour. He would often point out architectural structures that we would have never noticed on first glance. We loved talking about history with John, and his descriptions conveyed the attitudes of the time. In other words, he gave us such a flavor of the thinking of the time period. Such an important aspect of understanding the history of Scotland. John also took us to a wonderful location for lunch which looked like an old hunting lodge close to Rosslyn Church. The food was delicious and well prepared. Such a nice and inviting atmosphere Johns black cab was immaculate, and he was kind enough to place a picnic basket with all kind of Scottish sweet treats, water, and even a pack of tissuesin the back of the cab where we were sitting so we could access at our convenience. He thought ahead on everything! John was also very attentive to watching out for our safety. John would always extend his hand for my wife to take as it was a tad slippery due to rain whenever she would exit the cab. John gave us very informative tips on cashmere and tweed and dropped us off to go into a cashmere store which was very kind of him. Outstanding quality of cashmere in this particular store. He parked very close to the shop so after we finished shopping, he was easy to find. John was very entertaining and knowledgeable about Edinburgh. He has lived in this city all his life and as I have said, a wealth of information. Quite an entertaining gentleman! If I return to Edinburgh again, I will definitely reserve a tour date with John MC again. He offers several tour itineraries, and he is the best guide to show you a fun and educational time!
