Hi, I'm David I was born in London and, apart from a few years, have lived here my whole life in this remarkable city. I have been organising and leading walks for a number of years, more recently focusing on leading walks around London, bringing its stories and secrets to life. I am now a London Blue Badge Guide but for most of my life I was an antique restorer, working mostly with furniture but also on other various works of art. This was work where I increased my appreciation and interest in history and which took me to many impressive homes and interiors, including stately homes and the Houses of Parliament. My Blue Badge qualification, earned after nearly two years of intensive study, allows me to guide Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower of London and Windsor Castle. There are many other fascinating London locations to visit such as the British Museum, the Churchill War Rooms, watching the Changing of the Guard and numerous museums and galleries including the Victoria & Albert Museum. I can offer walking tours of London with themes such as Roman London, Legal London, Royal London, City of London and Maritime Greenwich. Walking is the best way to see most of London but you can also use various means of public transport such as the Underground ( Tube), buses, black taxi cabs and boats along the Thames. Although a driver is not necessary in London a chauffeured private car is also an option. For those wishing to explore beyond the Capital, as well as Windsor, sites such as Oxford, Hampton Court Palace and Stonehenge are all within an easy journey of London. For these visits travel options include either train or private chauffeured car. London still enthrals me, and, after all these years living here, I still get excited, enthusiastic and inspired about learning something new. I want to share that enthusiasm for one of the greatest cities in the world, telling stories of its many layers of history. Personal Interests. Join me for a captivating 2.5 to 3 hour walking tour exploring eight centuries of London's legal history, through gas-lit courtyards, medieval and Tudor Halls, quiet gardens and Grand Victorian buildings. Our route focuses on the historic Inns of Court - extraordinary time capsules where barristers have trained and practised for hundreds of years. Along the way we'll trace the evolution of the legal profession and legal training in England, explore how English Common Law spread to influence legal systems around the globe, and visit iconic institutions such as the Royal Courts of Justice and the Old Bailey ( Central Criminal Court). We'll also uncover the area's rich literary connections, from Shakespeare's performances to the world of Charles Dickens. Although I didn't pursue a career in law, my father was a solicitor and, as a student, I spent time working in his office delivering messages and briefs to the barristers in their chambers so I enjoy, and have a particular interest in this part of London.
