Canterbury Cathedral, White Cliffs of Dover and Dover Castle from London

Gary is amazingly knowledgeable. He's very proud of Dover and showed off all of his favorite spots and frequent places. He took us to Canterbury cathedral, which was an humongous feat. Learned about the first ever female archbishop! He then took us to his favorite pub for lunch and the food was so good! Then we were off to the White Cliffs of Dover and I was awe struck by the sheer magnitude of the cliffs. It was actually "white chalk" - I never realized that it was so white! Then we were off to Dover Castle, and learned the history behind the castle. It was very eye-opening. This tour was a full-day tour and was tiring, but it was a good kind of tire, where one was filled with new knowledge, stories, histories, and humorous tales to recount. Gary has a great sense of humor. Both my husband and I were thoroughly entertained and very grateful to have him as our guide. Thank you so much, Gary!

My fiancé, 16 month old son, and I visited London in January for a little getaway. Gary picked us up in London and drove us to Leeds Castle, The White Cliffs of Dover, and Canterbury for a day of touring. When I say this tour was personally customized, I mean this man did things like carry our rambunctious baby around Leeds Castle to give us a little break. He provided a car seat and offered frequent stops throughout the day to ensure all our son’s needs were met. HE EVEN CARRIED HIM IN THE BUGGY ALONG THE ROCKS OF ST MARGARETS BAY SO WE COULD GET FAMILY PHOTOS! I can’t even explain how good he was with our sweet boy. I started crying at the Cliffs because I was overwhelmed with gratitude that we had such an amazing experience to share with our son. My fiancé turned to me and said, “Wow you hit a homerun finding this man.” This is gonna earn me brownie points for years to come!

We had a wonderful day with Gary. He took us to his favorite viewing spots to look at the White Cliffs of Dover. It was very impressive. The Canterbury Cathedral was magnificent. He is a great story teller which made both locations come alive. The Dover Castle was closed that day but Gary explained its strategic significance. Since Gary lives in Dover, he took us to his favorite pub for lunch. We had a variety of different discussions which gave us an English perspective of what is happening in the world. The one thing I would change is that we elected to have him pick us up in London and drive to Dover. It would have been much easier and quicker to take the train to Dover and have him pick us up there. We did return by train. This was not Gary’s fault, but a choice we made out of ignorance about the options.

We use guides whenever we travel to Europe because we feel it enhances our experience and we can say without reservation that Gary is one of the best we ever had!! He is the perfect combination of being completely professional, arriving on time, beautiful car, vastly knowledgeable and making sure our every need was met …..with a warm, engaging personality that added personal details garnered from living in the area his whole life, to make this in unforgettable experience. Don’t miss this trip, it is a wonderful experience, made all the better by Gary. A++++

I booked this tour for my parents (age 75) who are not frequent travelers and who were so excited for the opportunity to explore some new places. They are halfway through a three week trip and THIS tour with GARY P. is what they can't stop talking about. They've been seeing amazing places for most of the trip but keep raving about how wonderful Gary was! They keep telling us the stories he shared with them, how kind and helpful and interesting he was, and that it was their best tour so far. SO... 12/10 for any tour with GARY P., and this tour specifically was a great one!

What a privilege it was for us to tour with Gary! From start to finish, Gary made sure our day ran smoothly. With a great sense of humor, he peppered us with fantastic local history and folklore throughout our journey. He arranged for a fabulous lunch and ensured we saw everything on our list and then some! He is extremely knowledgeable about Dover and the surrounding areas, which made our day all the more special. Gary is also very kind and has the unique ability to make you feel like you are part of his family. My mom was struggling with back pain and Gary knew where all the best resting places were to ensure she remained comfortable throughout the day.
