Hi! Thanks for having a look at my profile and considering exploring the Highlands with me! Being a local living in the Highlands for most of my life has given me a great platform to gain an in depth knowledge of the area, it's history, culture and heritage. Having worked in the tourism industry for over 20 years, 18 of them managing information centres from Callander to Lerwick and Aberdeen to Castlebay, I have built up a fantastic knowledge of Scotland, specialising in the Highlands, and have taken that knowledge to create experiences that generally take you away from the crowds, slow you down and let you really experience the Highlands and all it has to offer. My staff throughout the information centre network are specialists in knowing about those hidden gems and in customer service, and you can be assured this is what you will receive with me. I have been guiding now for 2 years and also have my own small Bed & Breakfast where I have been helping my guests with itineraries for the past 5 years. My ratings on my sales channels are so high because of my knowledge and willingness to help create the very best of experiences for my guests and my 5 star ratings on other tour platforms also highlight the care and experience you will receive during a day with me! So, if it's great customer service, local knowledge and a fun day away from the crowds, join me on an adventure that will leave you aching to return for a longer stay! All my tours can be customized, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions - World Host trained Welcome Host trained For safety reasons we have a height/age restriction. This is a day out to one of the most famous lochs in the world, yet we travel on back roads, hike through an ancient Caledonian Pine forest to ensure we stay away from the thousands of people flocking to the loch every day! The main activity of the day is a 2 hour hike down to the shores of Loch Ness, and as it is about 260m down and 260m back up, a degree of fitness is required to do the hike, although this can be missed out and an alternative drive can be done! We'll travel in the footsteps of famous peots, mighty Generals, romantic heroes and Neolithic ansestors on this wonderful day around the Southside of Loch Ness. We may even be able to say hi to some local "hairy coos" and deer as we make some stops to enjoy the history, culture, food and drink of the area!
- Pick up from agreed location - Our first stop of the day will be to jump right into one of our most famous products and visit a local distillery for a taste of their 12 year old whisky, matured in a mix of Bourbon barrels and Sheery casks! - We'll then get on the back roads and enjoy a breathtaking drive to Foyers for our hike down to the shores of Loch Ness - Time to replace those lost calories and have some lunch at a local tea room and sample some home baking! - We'll then drive back up the loch to stop at Dores and enjoy a final view of the loch and the Great Glen. (This is my favorite view!) - Passing through Inverness, we'll venture out on to Drumossie Moor where the Battle of Culloden took place. This was the last stand of the Jacobites, led by Bonnie Prince Charlie and an evocative place to walk around as the sad tale is recounted to you. - Our last stop of the day is the peaceful burial chambers of Clava Cairns. These 4, 000 year old burial chambers is an ideal way to finish off the day!
