Richmond: Rock, Royalty and AFC Richmond

Richmond lies in southwest London and is regularly voted the happiest place to live in London. That's not surprising; it lies by the River Thames, it's packed with gorgeous houses, has a rich history and boasts a view that's protected by law. These days it's better known as Ted Lasso's home. Let's spend a half day discovering its delights and surprises, on a tour I call 'Rock, Royalty and AFC Richmond'. We'll check out a music venue made famous by the Rolling Stones, admire Georgian houses overlooking Richmond Green, pass Ted Lasso's local pub (or go in) before we stop at the gatehouse of Richmond Palace and see what remains of Elizabeth I's favourite residence. Then it's time to walk along the Thames, watching out for rowers or herons. You'll see a stunning neoclassical house with a connection to the American Revolutionary War. We'll then walk up to Richmond Hill and admire a panorama that's hardly changed. After that we can retire to Ted's pub or continue onto Petersham - the choice is yours.
