Hello Travellers!

My name is Silvia - Silviaki for my Greek friends - and I am a historian and licensed tour guide living in Athens.

Both modern and ancient Greece have built on stories, and my own starts in Italy. Born and raised in a very little town near Milan, drawn by my passion for Ancient History and Archaeology, I enrolled nine years ago as a PhD student in Athens University, a choice I have never regretted.

Communicating and sharing with people is something I see as fundamental to life as breathing. Tours let me combine my passions for the Ancient World and architecture with the joy of meeting, talking and laughing with people through genuine connections.

In my free time, my little car and I go to explore archaeological sites, museums, Greece's incredible and varied nature, always trying to find my new favorite Greek dish! The country has so much to offer me and everyone that, no matter how much of it I see, I know that it is only the surface.

My favorite tours are those based on history, archaeology and art, and I very much enjoy finding connections between the Ancient World and the modern. I try to contrast the more academic side of my tours with the fun, frivolous and unexpected. There is beauty to be discovered behind an ancient building, be it a modern artwork or an incredibly tasty baklava!

The majority of my tours are Athens-based but I can help you escape from the city for one or more days, offering tours full of history, culture and nature throughout Greece based on your needs and interests.

The soul of Athens is not only made of antiquity, ancient names and facts. Athens is a combination of old and new, fights and struggles for freedom in the centuries, and different religions all together.
Let me guide you into an immersion in the ancient and modern Athens, with a tour that mixes all the various colours of this lively and sunny city.

In this 5 hours tour we will first explore the incredible history of the Acropolis of Athens, religious heart of the city (5 c. BC). Then, we will go to the near Agora, the most lively place of the ancient city, place of market, religion, and for sure politics (7 c. BC onwards!)!
Then, passing by the Metropolis of Athens (most important church of the city, 19 century), we'll leave the ancient times to discover the time when the modern Athens was founded and built. We'll see the Parliament, the Academy, the University and the National Library, all 19century building expressing all the will of that time to show the most characteristic Greek identity.

So, let's go together to discover the Acropolis, the sacred citadel of ancient Athens, together with the Acropolis Museum - a true gem of the city! - and the colourful Athenian centre, full of different cultures, monuments, churches, mosques, and many other things, all mixed together!

In this 8 hours tour, we'll delve into history, discussing the time when Pericles decided to rebuild the sacred temples of the Acropolis to make the city shine again. As a Doctor in Ancient History at the University of Athens, I'm thrilled to share my knowledge and passion for history, archaeology, and, of course, mythology with you! And trust me, after this tour, you'll never look at Athens the same way again!

After visiting the Acropolis and its Museum, we can have a break for lunch to charge batteries and continue strolling around the centre in the historical area of the city, with a visit to the major monuments.
