Explore Nafplio your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Nafplio tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Nafplio for every interest, including:

History tours: Climb the stone steps to Palamidi Fortress with your guide, then boat out to Bourtzi to hear how the islet fortress guarded the bay. In town, visit Agios Spyridon Church to learn about the 1831 assassination of Kapodistrias, and add a half-day private tour to Mycenae or the ancient theatre of Epidaurus if you want to go deeper.

Food and Drink tours: Stroll the old-town lanes to a family-run bakery for warm bougatsa, then sample meze with ouzo at a harbour taverna your guide trusts. You can shop the weekly farmers’ market for produce and olives before a hands-on cooking class, or pair local seafood with Nemea reds during a relaxed tasting.

Architecture tours: Compare Venetian bastions on the Acronafplia walls with the Ottoman-era Vouleftiko on Syntagma Square, once the first Parliament. Walk past neoclassical mansions on Staïkopoulou Street, photographing wrought-iron balconies and painted doorways as your guide explains how each era shaped the streetscape.

The old town is compact and walkable, though reaching Palamidi means a steep stair climb or a short drive; buses connect nearby towns but schedules can be limited. If you prefer easy logistics for day trips or hills, you can book chauffeured tours or ask your local guide to arrange private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Nafplio inside and out.
