Hello Travellers! My name is Silvia - Silviaki for my Greek friends - and I am a historian and licensed tour guide living in Athens. Both modern and ancient Greece have built on stories, and my own starts in Italy. Born and raised in a very little town near Milan, drawn by my passion for Ancient History and Archaeology, I enrolled nine years ago as a PhD student in Athens University, a choice I have never regretted. Communicating and sharing with people is something I see as fundamental to life as breathing. Tours let me combine my passions for the Ancient World and architecture with the joy of meeting, talking and laughing with people through genuine connections. In my free time, my little car and I go to explore archaeological sites, museums, Greece's incredible and varied nature, always trying to find my new favorite Greek dish! The country has so much to offer me and everyone that, no matter how much of it I see, I know that it is only the surface. My favorite tours are those based on history, archaeology and art, and I very much enjoy finding connections between the Ancient World and the modern. I try to contrast the more academic side of my tours with the fun, frivolous and unexpected. There is beauty to be discovered behind an ancient building, be it a modern artwork or an incredibly tasty baklava! The majority of my tours are Athens-based but I can help you escape from the city for one or more days, offering tours full of history, culture and nature throughout Greece based on your needs and interests. Looking forward to meeting you and introducing you to my second and now first home! Silvia B. Licensed Tour Guide (Greek Ministry of Tourism) PhD in Ancient History (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) Master Degree in Roman History (Università di Roma Tor Vergata) Bachelor Degree in Human Science (Università degli studi di Pavia) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

You may think it impossible to explore ancient, modern and contemporary Athens in just half a day, but it is more than possible with this tour! It'd be divided in 2 parts of 2 hours each, the first 2 hours being spent in the Acropolis. On the latter part of our tour we'll visit Plaka, a kind of folkloric, peaceful island within the chaos of a modern city. Byzantine churches, the Roman Forum with its incredible monuments and traces of Arabic culture are there to be discovered. Athens is a mix of cultures and ages where Athenians, Romans, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires all left their fingerprints creating a colourful and unique atmosphere which needs only the right 'glasses' to be seen. My personal relationship with Athens began very early as a school girl in Italy. Then, when I moved to Athens I literally felt the luckiest person in the world! My PhD in Ancient History gave my the deep knowledge of the Greek culture, and today I love to share it with people, making them feel a bit "Athenian" as I do feel!
The itinerary is all on foot. We will have the chance chance to stop at a coffee shop for rest and refreshments when you feel like it! ·We would begin with a 2 hour visit to the Acropolis Archaeological Site, which will include: -Theatre of Dionysus -Temple of Asclepios -Ancient City Concert Hall ·Arriving at the monumental entrance, dominated by the iconic temple of Athena-Nike, we'd take a closer look at the Parthenon and Erechthion, masterpieces of ancient culture. ·We'd then continue walking around the picturesque historical streets of the Plaka and Monastiraki areas, where we will see buildings, churches, monuments, art, and archaeological sites and enjoy the local atmosphere. ·Later we'll visit the main church of the city: The Metropolis of Athens. ·Our journey will end at Syntagma Square, home to Parliament, which is close to restaurants and coffee shops, therefore the perfect place from where to continue your own exploration of our city.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
