Explore Zakynthos your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Zakynthos tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Zakynthos for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Meet a local guide at the National Marine Park in Laganas Bay to watch loggerhead turtles from a respectful distance and learn how nests are protected on Gerakas or Dafni Beach. Add a guided stop at Askos Stone Park near Volimes or snorkel around Marathonisi (Turtle Island) for a look at fish and octopus in clear coves.

Boat tours: Leave early with a private skipper to reach Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach before the crowds, then swim the Blue Caves by Cape Skinari where your guide knows the safest arches. Or cruise the south to the Keri Caves and the twin Mizithres rocks, drop anchor in your guide’s favourite quiet cove, and finish with a sunset view near the Keri Lighthouse.

Layover tours: With pickup at ZTH airport or the ferry port, fit a 3 to 4 hour circuit to Bohali Hill for views over Zakynthos Town, a short stroll through Solomos Square, and photos on the footbridge to Cameo Island at Agios Sostis. If time allows, taste olive oil at Aristeon in Lithakia or sample local wines at Grampsas Estate before heading back for your departure.

Zakynthos Town is easy to walk, but sights are spread around the island and KTEL buses run on limited schedules. For convenience, you can book chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation, or ask your local guide to arrange a car, minivan, or private boat charter.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Zakynthos inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Zakynthos

From Zakynthos you can mix boat time, cliff views, and quick hops to famous ruins on simple day trips that match the island’s relaxed pace.

Navagio Bay and the Blue Caves: Cruise the north coast to see the shipwreck beach from the water and slip into bright-blue grottoes, with earlier departures keeping the crowds and wakes down; if you like photography, your tour can include the cliff-top lookout for a different angle.

Zakynthos National Marine Park and Marathonisi: Explore Laganas Bay by boat to swim over clear sand, check the water for loggerhead turtles from a respectful distance, and edge along the Keri Caves where the sea is glassy; the protected zone suits you if calm coves and easy snorkelling are the goal.

Kefalonia highlights: Cross by boat for a loop that links Argostoli’s waterfront, the viewpoints above Myrtos Beach, and pastel Assos for a slow lunch, giving you a taste of a larger Ionian island without packing a bag; your tour times the crossings so the day stays unrushed.

Ancient Olympia: Ferry to the mainland and drive inland to walk the original stadium track and see sculpted treasures in the museum, a solid pick if you want a history day that still fits into one daylight window; routes are straightforward, and tours here keep the focus on the big stories and the easy-to-miss details.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Zakynthos most travellers miss.
