Full Day Tour in Delphi from Athens

Maria and our private driver Dmetri picked us up at our hotel in Athens. The van was high end, very nice and clean. The drive to Delphi was approximately 2 hours. We filled our time getting to know each other personally. Maria is highly educated and passionate about her work. At Delphi she gave us a great tour and provided us with a lot of insight while in the museum and the ruins themselves. After the tours Maria had picked out a wonderful restaurant that had a great view of the sea. Both her and Dmetri joined us for lunch. Unfortunately, in the middle of our meal, a memebr of our group became ill. Maria personally knew the famly who owns the restaurant so everyone quickly and compassionately assisted us. Sadly, we had to leave our lunch and beautiful setting behind. The restaurant owner did not want to charge us for the meal even we insisted to pay him something. We can highly recommend Maria to anyone wanting to tour Greece and Athens. She and Dmetri are not only fantastic at doing their job, they are also wonderful people and individuals. This was our second tour with Maria. Transportation was immaculate and our driver was very efficient and thoughtful - he made sure cold water bottles magically were placed after every stop. We greatly enjoyed our 3 tours with Maria, 2 half day tours in Athens of the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum and the National Museum and a full day tour to Delphi. Maria is extremely knowledgable about Greek antiquity and also well-informed about contemporary Greek life. She's a terrific teacher with wonderful idiomatic command of English. Touring with her was a delight. Highly recommended. Her driver (with a Mercedes van) for the Delphi trip was also terrific. If your goal is to obtain in depth insight into past and present Greece, then tours with Maria will meet your needs!

Maria is a wonderful guide! Her in-depth knowledge of Greek history and culture is impressive. Our Delphi tour exceeded our expectations! Her sincerity and enthusiasm is infectious! Today, the second day of our four day custom tour with Maria, we toured the ruins of the Temple Of Apollo and the surrounding sites at Delphi. The site is a magical. It is sort of a spiritual experience. Maria wove a wonderful story of Apollo, Athenians and Pythia. We were aware of bits and pieces of the legends and myths, but today Maria brought all those pieces together into a big picture. As an archaeologist she adds a dimension to the story which makes it deeply interesting. Very enjoyable.
