Welcome to Athens! My name is Elena. I am a licensed guide and I specialize in offering thoughtfully curated tours for travelers seeking understanding of Greece through engaging storytelling and authentic experiences.
My tours are designed for guests who wish to engage with the cultural heritage that made Athens one of the most influential cities in human history. A central theme in my work is the question: “What did the Greeks do for us?” Providing historical interpretation, I guide visitors through the city landscape and architecture, but also through the ideas, innovations, arts and cultural achievements that were born in Athens and across Greece— many of which continue to shape the modern world. This perspective is woven throughout my walking tours, as well as my guided experiences at the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, and other remarkable destinations. Lately, I designed a few engaging tours for families with children and teenagers.
My academic background includes university degrees in History and Theology, as well as Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Medieval Studies, with a specialization in medieval travel and intercultural contacts. This perspective allows me to present Athens not only as a collection of monuments, but as a living crossroads of cultures, ideas, and historical continuity.
Travel has always been an essential part of my life. Having lived in different countries, studied at international universities, and being part of an international family, I feel very much at home welcoming travelers from around the world. As both an experienced traveler and a long-time resident of Greece, I understand the expectations of international guests and offer experiences that are refined, relaxed, intellectually stimulating, and personally engaging.
