Hello Travellers! My name is Silvia - Silviaki for my Greek friends - and I am a historian and licensed tour guide living in Athens. Both modern and ancient Greece have built on stories, and my own starts in Italy. Born and raised in a very little town near Milan, drawn by my passion for Ancient History and Archaeology, I enrolled nine years ago as a PhD student in Athens University, a choice I have never regretted. Communicating and sharing with people is something I see as fundamental to life as breathing. Tours let me combine my passions for the Ancient World and architecture with the joy of meeting, talking and laughing with people through genuine connections. In my free time, my little car and I go to explore archaeological sites, museums, Greece's incredible and varied nature, always trying to find my new favorite Greek dish! The country has so much to offer me and everyone that, no matter how much of it I see, I know that it is only the surface. My favorite tours are those based on history, archaeology and art, and I very much enjoy finding connections between the Ancient World and the modern. I try to contrast the more academic side of my tours with the fun, frivolous and unexpected. There is beauty to be discovered behind an ancient building, be it a modern artwork or an incredibly tasty baklava! The majority of my tours are Athens-based but I can help you escape from the city for one or more days, offering tours full of history, culture and nature throughout Greece based on your needs and interests. Looking forward to meeting you and introducing you to my second and now first home! Silvia B. Licensed Tour Guide (Greek Ministry of Tourism) PhD in Ancient History (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) Master Degree in Roman History (UniversitĂ di Roma Tor Vergata) Bachelor Degree in Human Science (UniversitĂ degli studi di Pavia) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

The Acropolis, meaning "upper city" in Greek, stands as an enduring landmark, a fortified citadel perched atop a rocky outcrop. This sacred citadel served as the spiritual heart of Athens, where Athena, the city's patron goddess, was revered and worshipped. The Acropolis we behold today was constructed during the mid-5th century BC, a period of Athenian ascendency as a maritime power. The Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and other structures adorned with exquisite sculptures and decorations embody the pinnacle of Greek architectural and artistic achievements. However, the Acropolis's history is far more intricate and multifaceted, encompassing centuries of Athenian decisions, foreign interventions, and cultural transformations. In this guided tour, we embark on a journey through time, exploring the Acropolis's rich history from its Bronze Age origins to the present day. As a doctor in Ancient History, I am thrilled to share my knowledge and insights, making this tour into an enriching and engaging experience!
Tour starts at your hotel lobby (if centrally located) or a guide-specified location and will last for 2 hours. We'll ascend the Acropolis slope, discovering treasures like: - Theatre of Dionysus, centre of Ancient Greek drama - Temple of Asclepius (god of medicine) - Herodion (Roman-era concert hall). Then, we'll enter the iconic walls, encountering: - Propylaea (grand entrance) - graceful Temple of Athena Nike - majestic Parthenon (Athena's temple) - little and gracious temple of Augustus & Rome - Erechtheion (Acropolis' heart & Athena's temple). Farewell to Antiquity: Tour ends at the Acropolis exit. Remember: Wear comfortable shoes and a hat for the climb! Please note: While the Acropolis itself has limited wheelchair access due to its historical layout, a modern lift is available to assist visitors with mobility impairments reach the upper level. If you require assistance or the use of the lift, please clearly state this need when booking your tour to ensure proper arrangements are made.
