Greetings from Greece! My name is Nektarios and I am a local at the city of Athens. I speak Greek and English fluently and I have been working as a licensed taxi driver and tour guide for the past 18 years. I chose this profession because I have always liked cars and driving in general. I am also a car engineer graduate and I work part time as a high school professor. This has given me the chance always be aware of my vehicles and be able to understand and overcome any situation. My current vehicle is a Mercedes E class. I believe that one word that would perfectly describe my personality is passionate. Passionate about my country. Passionate about my work. Passionate to adapt and try to do the best I can. I have always loved Greece and especially its rich history and culture. In fact, I can hardly think of a time that I did not want to open another history or mythology book in order to further extend my knowledge. Seven years ago I gave my first tour around Athens and so I had my first chance to try to pass my passion to others. I've loved it ever since. After that I have been working hard gathering pictures, videos and additional information to provide my customers with. Finding various local restaurants for them to try the famous Greek traditional cuisine and small out-of-the-way places that attract way less travellers and provide them with unique experiences. I am also one of the few Private Drivers in Athens who has passed and been issued with a Greek Certification Diploma from 2007 as a certified driver-guide by EOT (Greek National Tourism Organization), Everything I do is for my customer's satisfaction, happiness and entertainment. It would be an honour to continue this with you. Together we will uncover the rich History and uniqueness of Greece while having fun in the process. I look forward to meeting you. What I love most about this tour is that it combines every aspect of the city despite its shorter time span. You can easily say that you've visited all the famous sites but also something a little more local and extra. It's a tour that I am passionate about as I aspire to make you feel the same love that I do for my city and make you want to come back. What I find really interesting is that in the end every traveller has a different story which I am always happy to hear and cherish. We will visit The Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus and Arch of Hadrian, the Stadium of the 1896 Olympiad, the Greek parliament, the changing of the royal guards, the trilogy of neoclassical buildings (university, academy, library) and the breathtaking panoramic view of Athens from Mt. Lycabetos. We will spend the remaining time in the Ancient Greek and Roman Agora located in Plaka where you will have the opportunity to grab a quick snack (souvlaki, gyros).
À really informative tour with a very friendly guide. Nektarios accommodated our timing needs and what we wanted to see really well and gave us a great flavour of Athens in a short time. It was also good to discuss the history and culture of Greece more broadly. We shall be back for a longer visit and tour
Our tour with Nektarios was perfect! A nice pace for a half-day tour of Athens. Since we only had one full day in Athens on our family trip, we wanted to pack in the major sites of the city - Parthenon, temples, changing of the guard, etc. This was the way to do it. He picked us up promptly in a roomy, clean, new Mercedes-Benz, and drove us to the front of the line at each site. Since it was a very hot summer day, it was nice to come back to a car running with ice-cold AC! Along the way he spoke about the city, history and culture so by the time we got to the sites we knew what we were looking at and able to take it all in. I'd definitely recommend this tour, especially for families - we were traveling with an infant, so Nektarios acquired a child seat to safely bring us all around. Nektarios gives a very detailed, very knowledgable tour of Athens. He is very personable and extremely accommodating. We too a tour with him last year with our grandchildren, and were so impressed we booked him again this year.
Amazing! We had such a wonderful time and learned so much. Vehicle was great and Nick did such a wonderful job of adapting to our desires. Had about an hour and a half of rain and we were provided umbrellas and the tour was modified to accommodate. Great overview of the city that kept us asking questions interjected with a lot of laughter thanks to Nick’s wonderful personality. Thanks!
Nektarios' tour was fantastic to say the least. He was on time and explained to us the history with great details. He even had a slide show on his mounted tablet as a visual aid. He took us to all the iconic sites and was well versed in every detail. He waited patiently while we visited the sites and even waited for us while we had a wonderful Greek meal. I highly recommend Nektarios for his promptness, knowledge, politeness and flexibility.
Starting from our meeting location we will head to the city centre and visit the Acropolis hill which includes the Parthenon, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, Dionysus Theatre and Herodes Atticus Odeon. Then we will head to the temple of Zeus, the arch of Hadrian and the old Olympic stadium. After that we will see the change of the royal guards in the Greek Parliament by Syntagma square. We will also enjoy the view of Athens from Mt. Lycabettus. We will spend the remaining time in the Ancient Greek and Roman Agora located in Plaka. There you can grab a quick snack (gyros) and get a taste of the city. I will try my best for you to have as much remaining time as possible. If we start our tour from Piraeus port you will also see the coast part of the city. Bear in mind that the itinerary can be adjusted based on traffic or your preferences.
