Explore Lesbos your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Lesbos tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Lesbos for every interest, including:

Layover tours: Make the most of a few hours as a guide meets you at Mytilene Airport or the ferry pier, keeps your bags in the vehicle, then takes you to Mytilene Castle for harbour views, a stroll along Ermou Street’s shops, and an ouzo-and-meze stop by the old port before a timed drop-off. If time allows, add the Archaeological Museum of Mytilene or a quick swim at nearby Tsamakia Beach to your tour.

History tours: Walk the ramparts of Mytilene Castle, spot traces of Ottoman baths and neoclassical mansions, then continue to the Roman Aqueduct of Moria and the Theophilos Museum in Varia to see local stories through art. With more time, your tour can reach the Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production in Agia Paraskevi or climb to Molyvos (Mithymna) Castle to learn how the island guarded the straits.

Mytilene’s centre is easy to explore on foot, and KTEL buses link major towns, but timetables can be limited for sightseeing across the island. If you want to reach Petra, Molyvos, Plomari, or Sigri comfortably, ask your local guide about chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Lesbos inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Lesbos

From your base on Lesbos, you can head out to nearby towns and natural sights that turn into relaxed day trips with a clear theme for your day.

Mytilene: The island’s main town gives you a harbour walk, a Byzantine castle on the hill, and lively markets, all close together. Your tour can dip into the archaeological museum, Ottoman mansions, and café stops along the waterfront to keep the pace easy.

Molyvos and Petra: Stone lanes climb to a castle in Molyvos, while Petra sets a church on a lone rock above a sandy beach, so you can balance history with a swim. Your tour can link both villages, with time for seaside lunch and sunset viewpoints.

Agiasos: Up in the green hills of Mount Olympos, this village offers painted houses, woodcarvers’ shops, and a famed church square. Your tour can wander the narrow streets, try local sweets, and add a short forest walk if you want cooler air.

Plomari: Known for ouzo and a quiet port, it mixes small-town life with distillery visits and coves just outside the centre. Your tour can include a tasting, a look at traditional production, and a swim at Agios Isidoros beach.

Sigri and the Petrified Forest: The west feels wild and open, and the fossilised trees and the museum explain the island’s volcanic past in a hands-on way. Your tour can pair the geopark sites with a seafood stop and windy coastal viewpoints.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Lesbos most travellers miss.
