Villages on the east were until 1930, isolated from each other. Between villages, there is always a deep valley with a stream or a huge cliff and transportation was made using footpaths and boats.

In the East we have the highest mountains on the island, one of them, Pico do Areeiro (1818m) reachable by car, offering overwhelming views.

We'll walk and drive through our magical Laurell forest, using forest trails and the ancient royal path only accessible on foot or all-terrain vehicles.

We go up through the rough narrow old road toward to the top of it around 1000mt high, for a great viewpoint to the Nuns Valley. Did you know the island produces its own wine? Madeira Wine is produced in a variety of styles ranging from dry wines which can be consumed on their own to sweet wines usually consumed with dessert.

We start with the first winery located in Funchal and we proceed to second with a tasting wine tour, very close to the first. After the tasting we move to our vineyards above Câmara de Lobos, where we have the option to visit a third winery if you would like.

We will drive to the North-East, passing in Caniço and Machico towns where we could stop for all picturesque panorama view, to Porto da Cruz, a lovely village often considered as the best village of the old type of grapes.

We will walk around the village and visit a local cellar, with 17 and 27 years old wine tasting where you will experience the unique flavours of this old grapes. We could do a visit to Distilery of Aguardente, the local Madeira rum made from sugar cane. To end a tasty day, we go to local restaurant for a traditional lunch.
