Welcome to Paradise Island! My name is Ricardo! I'm a Madeira Island born and raised, in heart and blood, father of 2 beautiful kids! Worked in many things differently in my long 40+ years of life, and lived also in other parts of the world, but all that to make sure that this island is were I belong, and showing my place, the job is I love to do! Being in the tourism industry for a very long time, more than 20 years, made me acquire experience, but mostly provided me with the opportunity to know amazing people every day, and make many good friends! If you are looking for a local, to show you Madeira's best sights, the most known ones, or the less known in a relaxed funny and informal way, in my Jeep in which I have been very happy within the last 20 years. That's about the time I do Offroad as one of my favorite hobbies. My goal is to talk with you about my culture and the way I was brought up on this island, the difference between now and then and spend a good day together, eating, drinking and sightseeing (I don't drink alcohol while I work, but it would be available for you). Any of my tours can be customized and altered to your needs, and my car is registered in an official tour company so I can pick up inside the port or any hotel in the island for your commodity. On this tour to the beautiful west, we will see and explore this amazing Volcanic island. We will see the big cliffs and natural volcanic pools where, if you dare, you could actually take a swim! In our Jeep we will take the old roads especially in Ponta do sol, there we will go from the sea level to the west top of the island, the plateau Paul da Serra, the flattest part of Madeira. Since we will be traveling along the old roads we can see the wildlife co-habiting with the local cattle grazing quietly and breathtaking views perfect for amazing photos. And also the misty FOREST OF FANAL. In Porto Moniz, you can enjoy a traditional Lunch and take a swim in the natural volcanic swimming pools (optional). By the afternoon we will cross the north small coastal villages and see the amazing waterfalls on the way back to Funchal! A perfect way to end the day. Tours could be customized to your needs.

We had an absolutely amazing time with Ricardo as he took us around his beautiful island home. We all (me, my husband, and our teens) consider it one of the best tours we've ever done - and we are well traveled! Ricardo took us to places off the beaten path and not swarming with other tourists. Lunch was a highlight: a local place with great food, a beautiful view, and not ridiculous prices. When we come back to Madeira one day, we will definitely book him again.
Ricardo was an amazing tour guide. Honestly, we had not planned to book a tour for this port. Two weeks ahead of time we decided we would do a tour and fortunately Ricardo was available. This island is amazing and I would encourage everyone to have Ricardo, if he’s available, be your guide. . He took us places that no Tours bus from the ship would ever go to. We had six hours with him, did some offloading in his jeep, and had a great lunch overlooking the ocean. He’s a very safe driver and speaks perfect English. Without hesitation I would totally recommend him to be your guide if you have a chance to visit Madeira. He picked us right up at the ship and we only had to walk about 20 m to meet him. Please enjoy your time in Madera. This island is an absolute hidden gem.
We had an amazing full-day tour with Ricardo! He is knowledgeable, and fun and he took us to do many great spots. He was flexible with respect to our needs, but at the same time he provided his recommendation to help us create the best tour possible. We only had time to explore the western parts of the island together, but Ricardo provided us with a list of recommendations for us to explore on our own during the rest of our stay in Madeira.
We had the best time with Ricardo in Madeira! What a beautiful island and the perfect way to see it. We all loved the off-roading through the mountain terrain and fragrant eucalyptus forest. A coffee pit stop was perfect to keep us alert (thank you for the treat, Ricardo!!) The pick up at the port was very easy. Ricardo even helped us find a shop that we needed. I highly recommend booking a tour with Ricardo when you visit Madeira!
We will leave Funchal thought Câmara de Lobos. Reaching from Ponta do sol wee we will take the old roads all the way to the plateau Paul da Serra. If the weather is nice we will do a small walk on a Levada about 2km, just before we cross the Plateau on our way to the northwest part, to Porto Moniz, were we are going to Lunch and take a swim in the natural volcanic swimming pools (optional). In the afternoon we will pass by Ribeira da Janela, and the fishing north village of Seixal, and cruise São Vicente on the way back to Funchal, and if you haven't visited so far, I can take you to Cabo girão cliff or Fajã dos Padres.
