OLÁ. My name is Nicolau, Nico for my friends, born and raised in Madeira, I can say that I live in one of the best and most beautiful places in the world. not only by its exuberant nature but also for our people and traditions, love my heritage and island.
I lived outside Madeira for a while, but couldn't stand living far away from my roots. . and since I came back years ago, and took my official Guide and mountain guiding course, knew immediately that the thing that would make me happier and fulfilled was offering and showing you my home! Knowing the Toursbylocals, I was the first guide for Madeira Island and It as been some fantastic years, but everyday feel that its our first day, and been working as an idependent local guide with ToursByLocals (yes looks like it was yesterday)
To be able to do what I love, and reach travellers like you own that visit our island and want to see what was really important. . not just going to all the touristic places. . but be free to give you the taste of a local! In my life, I always try not to choose the "big man" and give the maximum back to small independent workers and business, like me, so I hope you don't get tricked and lured as well into a fake tasteless tour, of the big companies sharks "disguised" as a local experiences, that in the end its just one more tour! ;)
Let me take you with me and share the best of our island. I love my cars, one is a classic UMM jeep, convertible, completely restored and a great machine, other is my vw transporter mini bus or a SUV, but as professional can also get any type of transport like a bus for a bigger group, and my tours are designed for the people who really want to explore the island in a relaxed calm way, learn about our culture and history. . drink and eat in the real local places. for you as I believe in people, not numbers!
