Hi, my name is Valdemar, a 45 years old Madeira island native. I was born in the capital Funchal but my roots are in the west and east of the island, where my grandparents are from. For 16 years I have worked in a store. Getting in contact with people, knowing their stories, was the best part of it and enriched and gave me social skills. In my free time, this island was my breakout. 10 years ago my breakout became a full-time occupation and I swapped a store for an outdoor office and started delivering tours. First with sidecar motorcycles, then minibus and jeeps, as a freelancer guide and since then, my passion for this island got bigger. The satisfaction and smiling faces of my guests were the cherries on top. Right away I felt this was what I was meant to be doing with my life. I feel blessed and very lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. Overview of your Funchal tour
Combine the best of Madeira in one day, joining an island tour with a walk through some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes on the island. We leave the usual routes and discover unique places, from cliffs and mountain viewpoints to hidden valleys and traditional paths. The goal is to show you the real Madeira in a relaxed and authentic way. One of the highlights is the Laurissilva Forest, protected by UNESCO since 1999. A prehistoric forest, very well preserved, mostly found on the north side, with a unique atmosphere. We walk along levadas, veredas and old royal paths used before roads existed, crossing farmland, forest and incredible scenery. Hikes range from 5 to 14 km, with different difficulty levels. Along the way, I share local stories, flora and fauna to make it more than just a walk.

A fantastic tour! Val did a great job. He gave us personalized experience, picking us up and taking us to wonderful spots we never would have known to visit. The sights we saw and experienced were breathtaking, and he catered to any stipulation with a smile. He even pointed out a trail by the river behind where we were staying that we could walk in the morning. It was something great that was literally right next to us that we wouldn’t have noticed without him. I highly recommend his tour. It was an excellent experience.

This was amazing! Valdemar picked up my husband and I to enjoy the PR1 hike, and then took us on an incredible tour of the north part of the island. The entire experience was excellent. 5 stars for Val! We loved him and he really made our first day in Madeira! We wanted to do the PR1 > PR2 but the route was closed due to bad weather - which we knew would be possible but Val thought on his feet and reacted well to each part of the day! We did a beautiful walk through a valley that was protected from the weather and spent the day afterwards driving around sightseeing and learning, the thins we wanted to see. All day was like a school day! He is extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

After our hike, we will visit the best scenic highlights of your chosen region.
