Hello, and welcome to Madeira! The Paradise Island, that I am lucky to call home. My name is Vitor, born and raised in Madeira. I lived most of my life in the island, and also spent a few years in the UK. I love travelling and discover new places, but the love for my home land has always pulled me back here, where I feel I truly belong! I am a husband of an amazing woman and father of three gorgeous kids! I love spending my time outdoors and I have a passion for vintage cars and classic jeeps. I have discovered Madeira's hidden gems, as well as it's commonly visited places. Driving my classic jeeps I am confident using quiet and narrow off roads, and introduce you to the history and flora of the island as well as the agriculture and local way of living. And last but not least, I know just where they make the best traditional Poncha in the Island! I have nearly 15 years of experience as a jeep tour guide, but I like to make every day count! I am responsible and flexible at the same time, and I will always do my best for you to have an experience that you will cherish! I am offering full day jeep tours to both side of the island as well as half day introduction of different areas of Madeira. Come and join the East Adventure with me to visit Madeira's hidden treasures! This is an excellent opportunity for you to discover views you might have only seen in movies, valleys and mountains, that could not be any more perfect and our traditionally built Santana houses! And to make all this available to you, we will travel safe but super fun off roads! After our introduction we will be heading to Lombo da Quinta using the old fashioned side roads offering wonderful views to the Funchal harbour. An amazing opportunity to take some photos to remember. Then back to the Jeep, and to the Pico do Arieiro! One of the highest place of the island at 1818 meter above sea level, looking down to breath-taking valleys, forests, mountains, even Ponta do Sao Lourenco. Using off roads, we will visit our traditionally built Santana houses and have a tasty lunch. You can even try a Poncha before we make our way to Guindaste's glass platform view point! An excellent tour with Vitor. As a couple that relies on mobility scooters Vitor was very accommodating and did his best to make the tour both informative and memorable. I highly recommend him for anyone visiting my Madeira! Bravo!
We were a party of 3 elderly couples visiting Madeira for the first time. Vitor was a wonderful guide, showing us 3 different parts of the island on 3 days. Vitor is a very knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour and an enthusiastic, friendly disposition. He speaks excellent English and it was easy to communicate with him over WhatsApp. Vitor is very kind and it was a pleasure to travel with him.
Another great Tours By Locals excursion. This time it was Vitor who showed us the beauty of Madeira Island. He was fluent in English and very personable. The island was covered in clouds and light rain but he knew the routes to take to keep us dry and enjoying the sights along the way.
This tour will take 8 hours including pick up and drop off from and to your accommodation. Upon arrival we will have a short introduction and I will go through the plan of the day with you, to make sure it is customised to your interests as best as possible! Also comfortable minibus could be arranged. During our tour I will take you to many different view points to the valleys and ocean and I will introduce the local flora and history! We will drive on narrow and off roads and have lots of fun! Stops during this tour are: - Lombo da Quinta (An amazing view to Funchal) - Pico do Arieiro ( 1818 m high, the second highest point of the island) - Ribeiro Frio (Trout Reserve) - Santana ( We will get here using an adventurous off road) We normally stop here for lunch. This can be arranged on the day. - Guindaste ( You will get to a glass platform above the ocean after a relaxing 10 minutes walk) - Poto da Cruz (North Mills Distillery, built in 1927) Tour’s could be customized to your needs.
