Along this shore excursion, we will explore the center of the island focusing on some areas that deserve some love and attention. Some of the highlights will be Câmara de Lobos, the astonishing Cabo Girão Skywalk, the vineyards along the roads and the viewpoint to Nun's Valley. We'll also be going through some villages, enjoying their goodwill, simplicity and the essence of the locals. We'll have a glimpse at their "terraces" and at the most iconic pieces in the island. We'll be exploring banana plants, vineyards and coming across an array of vegetables that make a big part of the beautiful landscapes we have here, as fascinating as the views of the mountains and cliffs we love and preserve. Come with me along this exquisite journey and visit the center of this lovely island.
What a fantastic morning with Edgar! He was very professional with contact info and meeting place. He is also very responsive to requests for the tour and made great suggestions. We loved all the special, non-crowded and authentic places he took us. His passion for the island is contagious and by the end of the tour we felt like family. We did a half-day tour at the beginning of April with Edgar. He met us right by the ship, and adjusted the tour for the things we wanted to see. Edgar was always very prompt in returning my emails and setting up the tour. Madeira was a beautiful island and we really enjoyed our short time there. My only regret is that I did not book a longer tour. We had a wonderful morning touring the island. It was obvious that Edgar loves his home, and we hope we can return some day. If we do, I will be booking Edgar again!
Edgar was a great guide. We only had half a day for him to show us his lovely Island but we saw so much in short time. What incredible views atop various lookout points. Edgar was born in Madeira and we learned so much about the history and the people and their lives. We especially enjoyed Edgar’s insight and perspective on life.
Die Tour zusammen mit Edgar war richtig toll. Wir fuhren zu atemberaubenden Aussichtspunkten, wo wir das Nonnental bewundern durften. Eine Poncha-Probe in einer typischen Bar durfte natürlich auch nicht fehlen. Wir fuhren ein kleines Teilstück Off-Road, was ebenfalls sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat. Zum Abschluss durften wir noch eine kurze Levada-Wanderung unternehmen. Edgar war ein toller Reiseleiter, der uns viel über Madeira erzählt hat und die Reise auch ein wenig nach unseren Wünschen angepasst hat. Wir würden in jedem Fall wieder mit Edgar auf Madeira eine Tour unternehmen. Absolut empfehlenswert! Wir haben den Halbtagesausflug sehr genossen.
Edgar was an absolutely fantastic guide. Good English, good sense of humor and great commentary on everything we were seeing. The Island is amazingly beautiful, with so many varied sights, and Edgar managed to show us quite a variety in the 4 hours we were together, as well as having some specially prepared Poncho, and sneaking in a little shopping. We highly recommend him as a tour guide for this island. Frankly the best tour we had on this 12 day cruise trip and we booked all of the ports ourselves with various operators. 6 stars if we could give that many.
-We will begin our journey by departing Funchal and traveling to Câmara de Lobos, a beautiful fishing village, while contemplating its views and all it has to offer. -The next stop after Câmara de Lobos is Boca DOS Namorados, which has a height of 1050 meters and offers a remarkable and astonishing view of the Nuns Valley. -We'll go off the beaten path to Jardim Da Serra and stop in a local bar to try Poncha or Madeira wine, if you're willing. -After this stop, we can do more off-roading in the direction of sea cliff Cabo Girão, 580 meters high that offers another remarkable and astonishing view as our final destination. -We will begin our journey back to Funchal and conclude this experience. Remember I can also customize the tour's itinerary to our preferences.
