Dachau, located approx. 18 km northwest of Munich, was the first "prototype" concentration camp to be established by the Nazi Party in March 1933 and was later to become the "training ground of terror" for the SS.

Over 200, 000 prisoners were registered at Dachau in 12 years, out of which 31, 951 were registered deaths. Over 34 nationalities were brought through Dachau and its subcamps, thousands of them would perish from overwork, starvation, or disease.

Learn about Dachau's history in full detail, while hearing first-hand accounts from survivor's testimonies and stories of bravery and heroism. You will have a chance to watch the moving documentary film made directly after the liberation. ﻿

Neuschwanstein Royal Castle Tour - Day trip from Munich

No trip to Bavaria is complete without experiencing the inspiration for the Disney Castle!

Imagine seeing that magical castle, suddenly on the horizon, as we take a turn off a beautiful Bavarian mountain road.

Dachau was the first concentration camp to open its doors in Germany, less than two months after Hitler came to power and was the only camp to operate for the full 12 year duration of Nazi tyranny. It served as the 'model' camp for all others and was also known as the 'school of terror' as the largest SS training facility within the Reich was located there. By the time the U. S liberators arrived on April 29th 1945 206, 000 people from 34 different nationalities had been imprisoned and in excess of 43, 000 had been murdered.

Dachau was also the first concentration camp to become an International Memorial in 1965.

We will start this walking tour in the absolute city centre where you will see all major sights and hear about Munich's rich history. Starting in the Middle Ages we will work our way through the centuries and learn about Bavaria and Bavarian rulers, while we take a closer look at stunning churches, well known monuments or royal residences. Of course, we will also talk about 20th century history and learn how Munich was rebuilt after the WW II destruction. But be sure there will be enough time to talk about beer as well!

After about two hours walk, we will take public transport to get to the other side of our river Isar. In the charming quarter of Haidhausen you will learn how the city's poorest population used to live and understand why this neighbourhood has recently become so popular among families.

You will be met at your hotel reception. We use excellent public transport to get to and from Dachau and in the afternoon we will walk and take in the sights in Munich at your own pace.

The morning consists of a detailed tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp memorial site. I have been an official guide at the memorial site for 19 years now. During the years I have had many survivors, their family members, and many of the camp liberators. I always aim to relate their stories to visitors

The afternoon consists of a Third Reich walking tour of Munich. You will see the major sizes connected with the Third Reich and the rise of the Nazi party. Having researched this history in depth, I always try to give interesting little facts that I have come across from people on the ground here over the years.

You and your family will be picked up at your hotel at 9 am with our comfy private Mercedes . On this Tour we drive through some amazing Bavarian Alpine Region where we first visit the most famous castle in the world - Castle Neuschwanstein. Build by the famous and tragic fairytale king Ludwig II in the middle of the 19. century. You go on a inside tour of the Cinderella castle with an expert English speaking guide. Enjoy plenty of free time for photos and shopping. After Lunch we visit first famous Church in the Meadows followed by a visit to the quaint village of Oberammergau, famous for its " Lüftlmalerei " and the famous Passionplay performed every 10 years .
