This fascinating and entertaining tour winds for about 10 km through the Old City, the English Garden, and the University District. You will hear about kings and castles, atrocities and atonement, and modern Munich! Discover Munich's rich tapestry of history, art, and architecture on this all-day private guided walking tour. Explore the Old City, from Marienplatz to Viktualienmarkt, delving into stories of our benign monarchs through World War II and into modern times. After lunch, we stroll through the English Garden and into Schwabing for stories of heroes of science and humanity, before returning through the Gallery District that earns Munich the moniker, “Athens on the Isar River”. I will tell you fascinating stories about every aspect of Munich, from Europe's longest serving ruling dynasty, to Hitler and World War II, to the beautiful architecture in "Italy's most northern city". We will cover the history, art, architecture, modern life, and the business and economic outperform of this exciting city.
• I will meet you at your hotel at a time of your choosing, and we will go together on foot from there. We start our tour in the beautifully preserved Old City of Munich with Mary's Square (Marienplatz), Town Halls (Rathaus), Victuals Market (Viktualienmarkt), and the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche). • We move on to Munich's Synagogue, Asam's Church, Maximillian St. , The Residenz Palace, and the Hofbräuhaus. • Circling back, we come to the House of Art and Munich Nazi Remnants, the Eisbach Surfers, and a very discrete global corporate headquarters! • We enter the world’s largest city park, The English Garden, then exit into Schwabing and the University district to visit the scene of great tragedy and triumph. Proceeding down the architectural masterpiece of the Ludwig-Str, we come to the King's Square (Königsplatz) and the Gallery Quarter, before returning through Karl’s Gate (Karlstor) and past St. Michael’s Church. • We return in time for the Carillon, a Beer Hall, or climb St. Peter's Church Tower.
