If you are fortunate, you too will have the pleasure of this wonderful guide. Here is a summary of our tour, and my apologies to to our guide for any errors in the facts: Berlin April 21: Wow, what a beautiful old city; clean and walkable. Our tour with guide Julian starts at 9:30 am, we will return to the hotel at 6:00 pm. The history of Berlin being so influenced by events taking place and around Munich. He recounted how the Roman legions were defeated by Arminius, a Germanic tribal leader who united several tribes and led an ambush that wiped out three Roman legions. Then Charlemagne (also called Charles the Great) who was much responsible for the Holy Roman Empire; predecessor to the Roman Empire. On to Ludvig (1,2, 3, etc - a bunch of them - benevolent kings). We finished with the Nazis/Hitler period here in Munich. We stopped at the University where the White Rose Society circulated leaflets best described as a mix of moral protest, intellectual critique, and intellectual resistance and moral dissent; not a call for action against the Nazis; but would lead to the deaths of 6, 3 students; all guillotined. We saw the building where Neville Chamberlain negotiated with Hitler and paraded in a car in Munich with the swastika flying by him, and who upon returning to England made his infamous statement upon landing: “peace for our time”; obviously duped by Hitler. The Munich buildings and avenues are beautiful, we walked through a park larger than Central Park in NY. We would and will probably return to Germany on another trip.

We recently did a full day Munich walking tour with Julian and had a wonderful time hearing about the history of Munich. Julian is a book knowledge on all things Bavaria, from the people and culture to history and architecture. He did a great job keeping my daughter (8) interested and upbeat (including buying her Butterbrezel and Apfelschorle, so kind), a full day walk around a city can be tough on a little kid. Julian was also incredibly friendly and interesting to simply talk to and ask questions, he welcomed any and all conversation. I had a wonderful full day tour with Julian. He has an easy and engaging style, and was very accommodating of my many questions. We covered a lot of the history, art and architecture of Munich, as well as current events. I was very satisfied with my tour and felt, at the end, as if we were old friends. I highly recommend Julian!

Within 5 minutes of meeting Julian my husband and I knew we hit the jackpot! Julian's superior knowledge of Munich combined with his engaging personality kept us enraptured for hours. We walked all over the city and never got tired of hearing the stories about this beautiful city! We learned so much more than we ever would have with a large group. We've had very good guides in the past, but Julian surpassed them all! Highly recommend.

Julian weaves the many facets of Munich history in a thorough and enjoyable tour. Throughout Munich, one block can contain history about Bavarian Kings from the 19th century and the Nazi rise in the 20th. For an inexperienced tour guide, the never-ending back and forth could be like watching tennis. But Julian ties all of these together like an expert. Every transition is seamless; everything fits. At the end of the tour, Julian has helped you understand Munich with a desire to explore more. Julian’s tour is carefully crafted. The eight hours expose you to much of Munich but not in a tiresome or burdensome way. With Julian’s radio-communication system, every minute walking throughout the City is filled with info. It was enjoyable, mesmerizing, and worth the time. A great tour, and we cannot recommend Julian enough.
