Such a wealth of knowledge about this very sobering place. An emotional day that we understood so much better with a private tour. Highly recommend.

Grüss Gott, I am Franz, born and raised in Munich. I used to be a travel agent and I thought this was the best job ever. Dealing with customers and travelling around the world was fantastic. In 2005 I was looking for an additional part-time job and began guiding. I quickly realized that being a tour guide is even better than being a Travel Agent. In 2007 I followed my passion and became a full time guide. I haven't regretted it yet. Travelling is education in a passive way. One is taught habits, rules, food etc. are different everywhere. This helps me today, working with a variety of people as a guide. It's my pleasure now to take you around our most wonderful sights and spots. Bavaria and Munich are blessed with beauty, traditions, mountains, lakes, almost 1500 years of history and -not to forget - beer. It's still quite importang in Munich. Of course it is fun to spend some time in the famous Hofbräuhaus, but it would be a shame to only visit there when there are numerous sites to see outside of the beer halls. Beer history and the production of beer is an interesting and fascinating story. Good enough to spend some time on a specialized tour where I can show you some of Munich's hidden gems. Sadly, there are some dark spots in Bavarian history, too. The city is the birthplace of the Nazi movement and the first Concentration Camp was started in Dachau, which is less than 30 minutes from Munich's city center. I am a certified guide through the Memorial Site and have the ability to give you a German's perspective on the events leading up to WWII and the aftermath. All my tours are suggestions and created with experience from other guests. If you have other suggestions please let me know. Whether it is a Munich city center tour, a beer tour or a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, or maybe you like to learn more about the somber side of Munich at Dachau or see the Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden, my tours are fully adaptalbe. Flexibility is the key. I would love to take you around and show you my hometown. A diploma in business administrations. Licensed to work as a tour guide in Munich and the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. Licensed Travel Agent by the Chamber of Commerce Munich. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange a professional driver with a licensed car or van.

On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. Learn why this camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. How could the Nazis get to total power and why was it such an Inhuman and racial system. In the twelve years of its existence over 200. 000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidiary camps. More than 42. 000 were murdered. On April 29th 1945, American troops liberated the survivors. Dachau was not only the first concentration camp but it would also become the first international concentration camp memorial site in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965. It has become an important place of learning, memory and remembrance for thousands of visitors each year. I am an official an licensed Guide to lead groups at the Dachau Memorial Site since 2008.

The Best Ever! After more than 40 yrs of travel one tour guide stands out from all others. Our experience with Franz was exceptional in every sense of the word. The information that Franz gave us was placed into an historical context giving us insight beyond all the books and docs we have read. Our recommendation of Hans is unequivocal, you will be elated with whatever tour you choose with Hans.
Franz was an outstanding guide for our trip. He met us at our hotel and we had a great conversation on the way to the camp. Once there, he was extremely knowledgeable and gave us such great context in this incredibly emotional and powerful setting. On top of the wonderful tour, he was helpful in making other suggestions for us during our time in Munich. This was tour was one of the best parts of our time.
Franz had excellent historical knowledge and gave us better insight into Dachau concentration camp during WWII.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Dachau tour with Franz. It was informative & he is so friendly & accommodating. He brought us pastries I wanted & went with us to get the COVID tests we needed & helped us get the train tickets we need to get to the airport the next day. We had such a good time with him we invited him & his wife to join us for dinner when our all day tour was done. And he picked a wonderful place with local cuisine & got the reservations. Great time!
Franz was an amazing guide and we would highly recommend him and his service!

We will use the Public transportation of Munich and Dachau. Trains are smooth and if the Bus at Dachau is overloaded we still can decide for a Taxi.
