A full day tour of Neuschwanstein castle with pick up at your hotel in Munich, advanced entry into the castle (no waiting in lines!) and a fun historical tour that details of the history of Bavaria, Ludwig II, and more. After our castle tour and a late lunch we then make our way slowly towards the village of Murnau. Along the way we can stop at a 14th century Benedictine monastery or a really fun summer bobsled run. Once we arrive in Murnau around 4:30 or 5:30 p. m. I then put you on the train for a short 45 minute train ride back to the Munich Main Train Station located in the center of town. The cost of the train is included in the tour. Did I mention I LOVE this train ride? It passes Starnberg Lake where Ludwig II mysteriously dies as well as Uffing am Staffelsee where Adolf Hitler hid after his famed Beer Hall Putsch fails. The train will drop you back in downtown Munich in time for dinner!
If you're planning a trip to Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich, I can't recommend Jake highly enough! He made the entire day one of the highlights of our trip. Jake was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much history and interesting information about the castle, Bavaria, and the surrounding area. What really set him apart, though, was his personality. He was genuinely funny, engaging, and kept everyone entertained throughout the day. We were traveling with teenagers, and Jake did an amazing job connecting with them and keeping them interested. He struck the perfect balance between providing great information and making the experience fun and relaxed. From start to finish, everything was well organized, and Jake made sure everyone had a great time. If you're looking for a guide who is professional, personable, and passionate about what he does, Jake is the one to book. Thanks for making our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle such a memorable experience!
I cannot say enough about how special Jake made our time during his private tour. He is extremely knowledgeable, personable and we really could not have asked for more. Give him a try, you will not be disappointed…
Great tour all around. Car was super comfy, everything was well-organized and Jake's knowledge and passion for travel, history, the region and the castle specifically were impressive. Very engaging - even for a family with three teens. Great lunch following the tour and the perfect beer garden recommendation to wrap up a full day.
Jake's tour of Neuschwanstein was definitely a 5 star experience. He is a student and lover of history, and is constantly reading, learning and imparting new historical information that is fun and interesting. Jake also is very friendly not only to individuals on his tours, but almost everyone that he comes in contact with during the tour. It was fun watching him interact with those in and around the Castle. You will really feel like your tour was by a Local!!
Jake was the best tour guide! In my teenage daughter’s words; he explained history so it was so easy to understand and interesting. We had wonderful day to Neuschwanstein Castle and surrounding areas including a great local lunch place and gelato treat. The history was very thorough and interesting as his passion is so evident with his story telling and amination. We would highly recommend Jake for a guaranteed fun but informative day!
Pick up at your hotel at 8:00 a. m. in our 7 passenger Mercedes V - Class - Direct two hour drive to the castle - Advanced entry into the castle (no lines!!) - Historical tour of the castle, Ludwig II, Bavaria, the Wittlesbach kings, the birth of Germany, the Oktoberfest, and Trachten (lederhosen and dirndl's) - After your castle tour of the interior we make our way down the hill for lunch either at the castle or along the road towards Murnau - Weather permitting I like to stop at the local summer bobsled track for an exciting run down the mountain - For those history nerds like me I also love stopping at the famed Ettal Monastery built in the 14th century - Then to the village of Murnau where you will have ticket in hand for a short 45 minute train ride back into the city of Munich. This train ride is direct and brings you to the central Munich train station after a gorgeous ride leaving the Alps passing the lake where Ludwig II died.
