I love Munich and the region around us, including the beautiful alpine lakes and the soaring cliffs of our Bavarian Alps! Munich is an architectural museum, a global economic and business outperformer, the home of world-class music of every kind, and the site of literally thousands of years of history, from the Celts to the Romans and Germanics, and through our 13 bad years of fascism into the modern era of peace and democracy. Let me tell you stories of triumph and tragedy, atrocities and atonement, kings and castles, and modern Germany - or any topic that occurs to you as we go. I have made it my business over the 40 years I have been resident here to live and breathe these topics every day. I would love to show you round this gem of a city or the picture-book sites in our neighborhood. Native English and fluent German. 40 years resident in Munich. Highly knowledgeable and experienced.

Julian was great giving us lots of great information about Munich. He went out of his way to share different perspectives of the history. He worked hard to keep us out of the sun on that hot day, paid special attention to my hearing difficulties, and provided a great dinner recommendation. We really enjoyed spending the day with Julian and highly recommend him.

An outstanding experience with Julian G. , whose command of history of the city and region is remarkable. Despite challenging weather conditions, he was able to adapt and customize our content and locations, presenting an enthusiastic and engaging narrative. We've traveled worldwide for many years, and this was one of the best and most memorable.

Julian was a very fun and informative guide, and very worthy of a 5 star review. He has lived in Munich a very long time, and knows its history like the back of his hand. He very much aimed to please and asked us many times what our preferences were. We highly recommend Julien has a guide for a Munich walking tour.

My walking tour of Munich with Julian was wonderful. He comes across like a friend who is proud of his city and wants you to appreciate it like he does. I was most interested in the historical context, and he certainly delivered well in that regard. I learned a lot from him and highly recommend his tour to anyone wanting to know how Munich came to be an important German city. We spent four hours together, and the time just flew. Don't hesitate to book him -- Julian was a perfect choice for what I wanted to see and learn about.

Your Munich tour itinerary

• I will meet you at your hotel at a time of your choosing, and we will go together on foot from there. We start our tour in the beautifully preserved Old City of Munich with Mary's Square (Marienplatz), Town Halls (Rathaus), Victuals Market (Viktualienmarkt), and the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche). • We move on to Munich's Synagogue, Asam's Church, Maximillian St. , The Residenz Palace, and the Hofbräuhaus. • Circling back, we come to the House of Art (Haus der Kunst), the Eisbach Surfers, and Munich's Nazi Remnants. • On our last outbound leg, we visit the King's Square (Königsplatz) and a very discrete global corporate headquarters (Wittelsbacherplatz). • Our return route takes us through the Karl’s Gate (Karlstor), past St. Michael’s Church, and back to Marienplatz. • We return in time for the Carillon, a Beer Hall, or climb St. Peter's Church Tower. Come and enjoy the vibrant, successful, and fascinating city of Munich! Customized tours on request.
