Hello and "Grüß Gott"! If you are curious about my hometown, I would love to pass on my enthusiasm about this beautiful city to you! Having been born and raised in the south of Germany, I was lucky enough to have moved to Munich about 25 years ago. Ever since I have been living here with my husband and my two daughters. After having studied business administration I worked in the finance departments of International Companies in Dublin, London, and Stockholm. Wherever I could I joined locals to show me their home. Finally in 2014 I decided to completely change my life and to make my dream come true: To become a tour guide myself! I qualified with the Munich Tourist Board and trained to be a licensed guide for the Dachau Memorial Site. I love to interact with my guests, regardless of whether international tourist groups, school classes, short-term city hoppers, history buffs or culture seekers. It does not matter if you want to discover the well-known sites or to get to know the city off the beaten tracks. I will always help you to see behind the obvious. Because I also love to show Munich locals around their neighbourhoods, I do not merely focus on the historic city centre, but also on the different quarters which all have a certain appeal and tell you a lot about our city and its inhabitants. Being a big fan of Munich's "Gemütlichkeit" myself - this is what we call the feeling of relaxing in one of our traditional beer-gardens or socializing with friends in our beer halls - I am sure that we will be able to chat far beyond the Bavarian kings, the Munich Monuments or our city's rich heritage of history. I would be more than happy to turn your trip to Munich into an unforgettable experience. Looking forward to meeting you in Munich! Munich at its best - from posh City Sights to the former working-class-district. We will start this walking tour in the absolute city centre where you will see all major sights and hear about Munich's rich history. Starting in the Middle Ages we will work our way through the centuries and learn about Bavaria and Bavarian rulers, while we take a closer look at stunning churches, well known monuments or royal residences. Of course, we will also talk about 20th century history and learn how Munich was rebuilt after the WW II destruction. But be sure there will be enough time to talk about beer as well! After about two hours walk, we will take public transport to get to the other side of our river Isar. In the charming quarter of Haidhausen you will learn how the city's poorest population used to live and understand why this neighbourhood has recently become so popular among families. At the end of the tour, we can treat ourselves to a glass of beer in one of the most charming beer gardens in town.
- Let's start in the middle of town, either I will pick you up at your hotel or we will meet on Marienplatz (St. Mary's Square), which is very easy to reach by public transport - first we will explore Munich's old town sights such as * our Town Hall - if we are lucky we will make it to one of the three rounds of Glockenspiel per day * Viktualienmarkt, our open-air farmers market * minimum one of our old town churches, depending on services * the Hofbräuhaus * Maximilianstraße, a paradise for luxurious (window) shopping * Max-Joseph-Platz, in front of our impressive Bavarian State Opera * the courtyards of the Royal Residence * Odeonsplatz with its famous Feldherrnhalle - after that we will take public transport to continue our tour in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Munich: Haidhausen. After a stroll through cosy little streets we can end our tour at a local market or beer garden. You would like to include anything else? Let me know and I can customize this tour to meet your ideas!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
We will have to use public transport in between, which in Munich is modern, comfortable and easy. But if you want to rather walk instead I can customize our route into a delightgul promenade through the English Garden
