Hello and "Grüß Gott"! If you are curious about my hometown, I would love to pass on my enthusiasm about this beautiful city to you! Having been born and raised in the south of Germany, I was lucky enough to have moved to Munich about 25 years ago. Ever since I have been living here with my husband and my two daughters. After having studied business administration I worked in the finance departments of International Companies in Dublin, London, and Stockholm. Wherever I could I joined locals to show me their home. Finally in 2014 I decided to completely change my life and to make my dream come true: To become a tour guide myself! I qualified with the Munich Tourist Board and trained to be a licensed guide for the Dachau Memorial Site. I love to interact with my guests, regardless of whether international tourist groups, school classes, short-term city hoppers, history buffs or culture seekers. It does not matter if you want to discover the well-known sites or to get to know the city off the beaten tracks. I will always help you to see behind the obvious. Because I also love to show Munich locals around their neighbourhoods, I do not merely focus on the historic city centre, but also on the different quarters which all have a certain appeal and tell you a lot about our city and its inhabitants. Being a big fan of Munich's "Gemütlichkeit" myself - this is what we call the feeling of relaxing in one of our traditional beer-gardens or socializing with friends in our beer halls - I am sure that we will be able to chat far beyond the Bavarian kings, the Munich Monuments or our city's rich heritage of history. I would be more than happy to turn your trip to Munich into an unforgettable experience. Looking forward to meeting you in Munich! Overview of your Munich tour

Join me for this emotional tour through today's Memorial Site of the former concentration camp of Dachau. Being a licensed guide with many years of experience I will be able to design this tour to your group's specific needs. While we walk the former prisoners camp grounds we will have time to talk about what happened here during the darkest chapter of Germany's 20th century history. We will try to understand why Dachau concentration camp was opened only some weeks after Adolf Hitler had come to power in 1933. It also served as a training centre for the SS and soon became a model for similar camps all over Europe. Throughout this insightful tour I will provide you with historical background and survivors' testimonies to understand the various parts such as the entrance gate, the roll-call square, the exhibition in the former maintenance building, one of the reconstructed barracks, the camp road or the former crematorium. And we won't forget to reflect on what probably is most important - "Never Again"!

Your Munich tour itinerary

- We can either meet at your hotel, on Marienplatz in the city centre or Munich's main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) to start this tour - We will use public transport to get to the Memorial Site in Dachau within approximately 40 minutes. Of course, I will give you a first introduction to the topic of Munich's Nazi history - Once on site I will give you an insightful and comprehensive private tour of around 3 hours including the visitors centre, the entrance gate with the well-known words "Arbeit macht frei" ("Work will set you free"), the permanent exhibition, one of the reconstructed barracks, the religious monuments, the former crematorium and the International Monument. - After a short stop in the book shop we will head back to Munich once again by public transport Of course we can reach the site also in your car or by private transportation (at extra costs) Since this half day tour should be designed to your specific needs I am more than happy to customize a tour according to your preferences.
