Dear travellers, my name is Stefan, I am a native-born Münchner who has spent his previous life all over the world. After the completion of my studies of philosophy in Austria and England I decided to come back to my splendid Bavarian home town and I started to work as a journalist and tour guide. In 2006 I was trained and authorised to give tours in Munich and at the Dachau concentration camp memorial site. One of my major interests is the gloomy history of the Third Reich, and I am happy to share my knowledge with you. In 2022 I got my diploma as a certified beer sommelier, and I just created a new tour: the Munich beer journey - a walking tour with beer tastings. Check it out! I like to be outdoors as much as possible, and in my free time I do a lot of road cycling and hiking. And on request I also offer bicycle and hiking tours in Munich and in the Alps. I am looking forward to showing you around. If you wish to explore Bavaria with a real local, let us get in touch! Last but not least, thanks a lot for more than 400 5 star reviews over the past couple of years. Thanks to your feedback I was honoured as one of ToursByLocals's Top 3 Guides in Europe in 2017! Master in philosophy. Licensed to work as a tour guide in Munich and at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Certified beer sommelier with diploma. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

The majestic Castle Neuschwanstein in the Bavarian Alps is one of the most visited sites in Germany with more than 2 million tourists every year. With my assistance you will be able to enjoy a hassle-free day without queuing and rushing. On the way to Neuschwanstein we will have time to talk about the eccentric „Fairy Tale King" Ludwig II, the builder of this imposing landmark, his complicated life in Bavaria at the start of the „Second Reich" and his life-long friendship with the composer Richard Wagner. Hiking to the Marienbrücke bridge that you see on the pictures is optional.
- The drive from Munich to Neuschwanstein on the "Romantic Road" takes approximately 1. 5 hours. - After our arrival in the village of Hohenschwangau underneath the Neuschwanstein castle there is usually time for lunch in an idyllic restaurant at the Alpsee lake before we hike up the hill to the castle. Alternatively we can take a bus, but please note that some walking is inevitable on this tour. - Inside the castle you will get a 30 minute tour by a different guide, since the Bavarian Royal Castles Association only allows their own guides to lead tours through the interior of Neuschwanstein. - On the way back to Munich we will drive through Austria on a very scenic mountain road, and we will also stop at the baroque monastery of Ettal. I am more than willing to customize this tour according to your preferences, please contact me for a customized tour
