Hello and "Grüß Gott"! If you are curious about my hometown, I would love to pass on my enthusiasm about this beautiful city to you! Having been born and raised in the south of Germany, I was lucky enough to have moved to Munich about 25 years ago. Ever since I have been living here with my husband and my two daughters. After having studied business administration I worked in the finance departments of International Companies in Dublin, London, and Stockholm. Wherever I could I joined locals to show me their home. Finally in 2014 I decided to completely change my life and to make my dream come true: To become a tour guide myself! I qualified with the Munich Tourist Board and trained to be a licensed guide for the Dachau Memorial Site. I love to interact with my guests, regardless of whether international tourist groups, school classes, short-term city hoppers, history buffs or culture seekers. It does not matter if you want to discover the well-known sites or to get to know the city off the beaten tracks. I will always help you to see behind the obvious. Because I also love to show Munich locals around their neighbourhoods, I do not merely focus on the historic city centre, but also on the different quarters which all have a certain appeal and tell you a lot about our city and its inhabitants. Being a big fan of Munich's "Gemütlichkeit" myself - this is what we call the feeling of relaxing in one of our traditional beer-gardens or socializing with friends in our beer halls - I am sure that we will be able to chat far beyond the Bavarian kings, the Munich Monuments or our city's rich heritage of history. I would be more than happy to turn your trip to Munich into an unforgettable experience. Looking forward to meeting you in Munich! Official guide of the Bavarian state capital of Munich Licensed guide of Dachau Memorial Site Member of the Munich guide society Member of the German guide society BVGD certified according to DIN-EN-standards I am not a driver. If you are interested in Germany's World War II history, this tour is a must. We look back into last century's early years and try to understand what happened in the 1920s and 1930s when Munich became the so-called "Capital of Nazi Movement". Let us follow Hitler's years in Munich, see how the Nazi-party developed into a mass movement and discover major buildings and sites which played an important role back then. Some of the old Nazi buildings survived the war and I would love to show you how they are used today! Of course, we will also talk about Munich's destruction during the last years of war and about the liberation through American forces. I will show you how my city was rebuilt into what it looks today, and we will try to understand how modern Munich has dealt and of course is still dealing with this heavy legacy. Although the answer of "How could this happen?" will be hard to find, I would still give my very best to show you how Munich played a key role on the Nazis' path to power.
I am more than happy to pick you up from your hotel in the city or meet you on Marienplatz. Since most of the former Nazi monuments will be in walking distance, we will be able to understand this part of history by passing - famous Hofbräuhaus - Feldherrnhalle (where the famous beer hall coup ended in 1923) - Munich's old city hall where the so called 'Cristal Night' was sparked off - Maxvorstadt with the former "party district", Königsplatz as a key rally ground, Hitlers former office building and today's documentation centre of Nazi history If you want to include sites of resistance like Munich's University buildings or the former "House of German Art", still a museum today, please do let me know and we can extend the tour accordingly. The same applies if you want to visit places of Jewish heritage.
