Nice to meet you. Born in Munich in 1966, I have lived here with my family most of my life. At the age of 16 I had the opportunity to spend two years in California. An experience that has influenced my life ever since. Not only did I learn (and learn to love) the English language and the friendly and relaxed atmosphere, it also broadened my view on both my hometown and origin. Being a tour guide is such a rewarding job, as I love to meet new people from all over the world and show them MY Munich. Strolling around this city is really fun and all the famous sights are quite close together downtown! There is so much to discover: the Gothic Frauenkirche, the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz, parks and palaces. . . Or would you like to try a glass of beer at the Hofbräuhaus, eat out in one of our famous Beer Gardens or go shopping at the Viktualienmarkt, a beautiful market where you can find the finest cheese, spices, fruit and vegetables, flowers and local craftsmanship? One of the top sites is of course the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein in the Alps. I could take you on a day-trip through the wonderful countryside and show you the castle, picturesque villages and amazing churches on the way. But Munich also played a sad, important role in the rise of the Third Reich. During my tour of Dachau I will also show you the related sites in Munich for a deeper understanding of this dark era. When giving tours, my approach is always to give you a very personal, private tour and therefore an individual experience. It's not the amount of sites we "tick off", it is about why this church has been built, who is the king that turned his dreams into stunning reality. I want to show you my cultural heritage and let you be part of it. Being a licensed driver guide I can pick you up conveniently at your hotel and I will be with you throughout the tour, accompany you in the castles and also guide you at the destinations we visit, so you can simply lean back and enjoy! No matter if you are here for just a short period of time or a whole week - I will show you this wonderful city at your own pace, according to your wishes. Overview of your Munich tour

Munich was founded some 850 years ago on a trade route. And ever since merchants came to Munich, bringing along their delicious goods. During this walking tour, I will not only show you the famous historic sites, but we will also taste our specialties like cheese and cold cuts at our food market. But as a true Muenchner Kindl (as we call native locals) I will share much more as we wander along the historic trade route, we get to see hidden back streets and courtyards, visit a deli store that was once a court supplier, and many other charming stores. And what would Munich be without beer and sausage? What made Munich the capital of beer? Let me surprise you with facts and local specialties, sweet and savory. Food has always been a passion of mine: I worked in a 2* restaurant, I love cooking, own a wine store and write cookbook reviews. PS: If you are into Pasta, Sushi or Burger, if you do not like meat, cheese or gluten - this tour is not for you - this is about traditional, best quality local food!

Simone was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide as she showed us the sights and introduced the delicious tastes of Munich. She is engaging and her love of Munich showed throughout our tour. We particularly enjoyed visiting local small shops for our tastings as we were able to speak with the merchants. Simone has a great command of English and took the time to answer all our questions. I highly recommend this tour early in your stay in Munich as it is a wonderful introduction to, and orientation of Munich. I also highly recommend Simone as a guide.

Outstanding tour! As a Munich native, Simone really has a handle on the best places to drink/feast on cheeses, wursts, cracklng pork sandwiches (our favorite), desserts and most importantly, beer. We've taken many food tours in Munich sine they all have a different take on the Munich food scene, but Simone's tour was the best.

Our food tour in Munich with Simone was absolutely perfect! It was our first day in Munich and a food tour in and around the Marienplatz was a wonderful way to learn about the town square while enjoying some fun and delicious German foods. Simone was charming, knowledgable and fun. Her English is excellent. The tour included my wife, my 13 year old granddaughter and me. We all loved it. The only issue was that we were confused about the meeting spot at the beginning of the tour. We did not have Simone’s cell phone so we called the Tours by Locals customer service and they were excellent in getting us together. We recommend Simone highly.
