Dear travellers, my name is Stefan, I am a native-born Münchner who has spent his previous life all over the world. After the completion of my studies of philosophy in Austria and England I decided to come back to my splendid Bavarian home town and I started to work as a journalist and tour guide. In 2006 I was trained and authorised to give tours in Munich and at the Dachau concentration camp memorial site. One of my major interests is the gloomy history of the Third Reich, and I am happy to share my knowledge with you. In 2022 I got my diploma as a certified beer sommelier, and I just created a new tour: the Munich beer journey - a walking tour with beer tastings. Check it out! I like to be outdoors as much as possible, and in my free time I do a lot of road cycling and hiking. And on request I also offer bicycle and hiking tours in Munich and in the Alps. I am looking forward to showing you around. If you wish to explore Bavaria with a real local, let us get in touch! Last but not least, thanks a lot for more than 400 5 star reviews over the past couple of years. Thanks to your feedback I was honoured as one of ToursByLocals's Top 3 Guides in Europe in 2017! Master in philosophy. Licensed to work as a tour guide in Munich and at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Certified beer sommelier with diploma. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

The Dachau Memorial Tour will raise your awareness for the fatal consequences of the Nazi tyranny and for the suffering of millions who were persecuted politically or racially during the Third Reich period. You will see the prototype Nazi camp which was opened 12 miles away from Munich right after Adolf Hitler had risen to power. The tour includes the documentation centre and the remains of the actual camp. I will tell you fascinating details that I have learned about in 14 years working on the camp site and talking with survivors, Dachau locals, SS relatives and school teachers who take their pupils on field trips to the camp memorial. For this tour we use public transport, which is very efficient, clean and reliable.
It takes approximately 40 minutes to get from the Munich Hauptbahnhof train station to the Dachau camp memorial. On the way you will get useful information on the history of Dachau and other areas that we cross. We will spend some 3 hours in the former Nazi camp before we travel back to Munich using public transportation again. There is a possibility to stop for refreshments at the memorial site. I will be expecting you at your chosen meeting point with a placard with your name on it, and after the tour we will travel back to Munich together.
