Overview of your Athens tour
In this private tour you are going to visit one of the most mighty and prosperous cities of the ancient Greek world the ancient Corinth and its Canal that connects Agean and Ionian sea. The tour is very familiar to me as I am in the field of private tours since 2002. You'll learn many things in this private tour about the history and the mythology of Ancient Corinth and how the Corinthians transported ships through the land from one side of the Isthmus to the other charging tolls to the merchants, what was happening in the Temple of Aphrodite on the top of Acrocorinthos the citadel of Ancient Corinth and many other things like the Isthmian games dedicated to the God Poseidon the God of the sea. I have to mention that I am not a licensed tour guide so I will not be able to guide you inside a historical monument or a museum.
Your Athens tour itinerary
The tour starts from Athens or from Piraeus port by driving via the coastal highway to Peloponnese. The first stop of the tour to ancient Corinth is the famous Canal of Corinth which connects the Ionian sea with the Aegean sea through the Isthmus, and joins Peloponnese to the Greek mainland. We will make a stop here about 20 minutes to look at the canal from the bridge and after we will continue our tour the Ancient Corinth. In Ancient Corinth you will see the temple of Apollo (the God of Oracles and the Sun) 540BC , the archaeological Museum, the Theater, the Roman Odeon and the Glauke fountain the Vima (step) from where St. Paul preached to the Corinthians in 52AD and finally the Lechaion street. Our last visit will be Acrocorinth or "Upper Corinth", the Acropolis of Ancient Corinth. The itinerary can be adapted to traveller's interests: do not hesitate to contact me for a customized tour
