In Croatia, tourist guides must be licensed. To obtain a license the guide must prove they have the business capacity, at least have secondary school qualifications, be fluent in the language they propose to guide in and have passed the certification exam for tourist guide.
The job of tourist guide is clearly defined and follows the European definition as 'one who interprets the cultural and natural heritage of an area'.
People organizing such activities as hiking or diving do not require a license. report error
