Hello! I'm Marko - your go-to guy in Dubrovnik! If you want a true local of Dubrovnik, that's me - born and raised, grew up in the Old town and still living inside the walls. I've been a professional tour guide since 2007. I got my tour guiding license as a twenty-year-old college kid studying journalism. At the time, I was the youngest member of the Tour guides' association of Dubrovnik. Over the past fifteen years I've given more tours than I can remember, having led walking tours, half-day trips as well as shore excursions from cruise lines such as Viking Cruises and Celebrity. Your private tour begins at Pile gate, the main entrance to the Old Town. We'll then lose ourselves in the maze of little alleys and you'll hear cool stories about the oldest graffiti dating back to 1597, the often violent game of football that was played in the 16th century or the secret affairs between nuns and friars! Did you know about that? You'll walk through the hidden passages between blocks of houses of the oldest part of the Old town, through people's backyards. We'll visit the Dead bell square - why is it called that, I wonder. . . We'll see the hidden symbol of Ottoman supremacy and also the place where a dragon and a winged lion prey on Dubrovnik's liberty! Not just that, I will tell you stories about medieval crime and punishment and how the popular monument in the center of the city was once used as a pillory and the main street itself as the place for the ceremonial "ride of shame" on a donkey. . .
Marco gave us a very entertaining and educational 2 hour tour of the Old City. It was especially interesting to see and hear places and stories of his childhood days living in the Old City. Highly recommended tour, 2 hours is more than enough time to see and feel what you need to know to go out on your own after the tour.

Marlo is a fantastic guide and wonderful storyteller and ambassador for his beautiful city and country! We loved our time together and had the opportunity to learn so much about this very special part of the world. Our conversation ranged from history, architecture, politics, everyday life and so much more along with discovering some of the many secret spots of this amazing place. Marlo is a gem himself as well as gifted in conveying the sparkle of the region. Two thumbs up for this experience!
We loved our tour with Marco. He is a true old city local so has great insight into everyday life and the history of the old city. We were so lucky to have him to ourselves (2 of us) and not have to be stuck with a large group that really doesn't venture into the less touristy areas.
I booked the "Dubrovnik - The Untold Stories" tour with Marko for the evening of our arrival, and it was the perfect way to start our trip. Since we had been traveling and didn't want to have to think too hard, Marko was flexible in my request to begin at our hotel and end with dropping us off at at our dinner reservation. In only 2 hours we saw and learned so much about the city including many fun details, and it greatly enriched the next 2 days we spent there. I absolutely recommend a tour with Marko!
Marco was a fantastic tour guid with lots of history knowledge. The two hours were actually to short and we hope to come back to get more information about Dubrovnik. Even our bored Teenager was was Interested and Marco made same very nice competition games between the three of us. We highly recommended Marco and wish him all the best.
