Hi dear guests, My name is Darko and I was born and raised in Dubrovnik where I have spent most of my life. My home town, its medieval city walls and its picturesque surroundings are something that I have always found magically enchanting. That is one of the reasons why I chose to spend the last 19 years of my life working in tourism. At the beginning I worked as a professional driver/guide, and since 2014 as a licensed tourist guide. All of these have given me the possibility to do something that fulfills me, and makes me really happy: exploring my country, presenting it to our guests, meeting new people from different parts of the world. . . But most of all I enjoy having direct contact with the guests, and creating customized tours that can suite a wide range of their wishes. If you decide to honor us with your presence in our small unique city, I will be more than happy to guide you through its amazing historical and cultural heritage and through its beautiful surroundings with adding a local flavor to your overall holiday experience. I am sure that with my assistance you will know why we, the Dubrovnik locals, are so amazed with our small city, all achievements of our ancestors, who have once created such an amazing city tailored to suit a mankind. So if you are interested in spending just a few hours, a whole day time or even a few days to explore Dubrovnik area or neighboring countries and their history, tradition, cuisine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you might consider some of the tours I have created for you. And please keep in your mind that everything is optional so I can create a tour that suits your personal preferences. Feel free to contact me and we will make your perfect tour together !!! Looking forward meeting you, Darko Licensed tourist guide for Dubrovnik-Neretva county Member of Dubrovnik Tourist Guide Association Commercial licensed driver Certified travel agency manager In case You are visiting Dubrovnik by cruise ship ( docked in the new port ), our meeting point is the main pedestrian port exit/entrance, opposite your ship, 1 - 3 minutes on foot from ship's gang way. This is THE tour for those who would like to have a truly traditional Dubrovnik area experience and to escape from crowds. Why ? Well, my grandparents spent their life here. My parents were born and raised here. I couldn't wait to get here as kid to "help" my family tradition - OYSTER growing !!! Area I still enjoy to escape to. To recharge my batteries. . . Did you know that the warmest word in this area is BABA, or grandmother in English ?! If You would like to experience something unique, not touristy, feel free to join me on my cousin's boat ride to the oyster farms. It is unique, believe me !!! We won't give them a chance to get to the restaurant's tables -:) -:) :-) Scenic coastal villages and country side roads free of buses, dry walled stones around, local tradition and food, Mediterranean olive grows, presentation of old olive mill and press, beautiful views of the Adriatic sea, all of this we can experience on this tour. . . Medieval Ston with it's walls and salt pans is on the way too. . .

Darko was amazing. His love of Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas that he took us too rang loud and clear. His knowledge of his home country and home city was inspiring and made him appear as a historian. The stops he arranged for us showed us a side of Dubrovnik that few tourists get to experience. Both Luca, whose family owned the historic home and olive oil operation, and Darko's cousin, who owns and operates the oyster farm that we visited, not only provided wonderful food and drink but also showed us much appreciated hospitality. Local guides like Darko make ToursbyLocals our tour/excursion provider of choice. We have found their tours to be second to none.
Darko arranged a tour for us recently where we got out of the city to visit an Oyster farm, Olive growing & time in Ston seeing the history. The stop at the Oyster farm was an awesome couple sharing their life & we were able to try oysters straight out of the water that were great tasting. The stop with the Olive oil producer for sampling local products was a great way to start the day. Then free time around Ston seeing the history & country side. Tour was awesome avoiding all the crowds & see Darko’s side of the country he loves doing. His passion for it all easy to see. We would recommend Darko to family, friends & anyone heading in that direction.
This tour would be hard to beat - Darko is incredibly knowledgeable on all things Croatia and has crafted a local experience tour that we will talk about for years! From the Napoleonic Road, the history olive oil making and oysters straight from the bay - the food, wine and people. 5 stars is not enough.
OK, just straight-up this was an Amazing Cultural, Day ! Personalized, Off-the-Path & Genuine, a very rare gem in a small private tour. We visited an old family Olive Oil press & a Multi-Generational Oyster production bay. Rode on a small oyster barge, learned about the Oyster harvest, enjoyed fresh air/views, tasted food and wines made and harvested by lovely people, and chatted with guides who's families had lived on the same properties for generations. We tried our best at some Croatian vocabulary and also heard how history, farming. new/old roads, and family traditions have shaped this region. *hint: We usually do one private tour to get the lay of the land, but, Darko was so great to spend the day with, we did two day trips in his company. His family connections to this region and his charismatic personality, provided us with a great insight into the Croatian experience!
My clients had an absolutely incredible two days with Darko. His knowledge and local connections make all the difference on his tours. Don't hesitate to book him for your next excursion in Dubrovnik.
