Pula walking tour with Roman Amphitheater

We thoroughly enjoyed our private walking tour of Pula’s historical sights with Matijas. He was a veritable fount of information, engaging, and generous with his time and energy. At our request Mat customized our tour to spend our first hour in the Roman amphitheater (we purchased tickets for entry separately online), which was fascinating, and we appreciated that he also gave us a bit of time after his overview to go back and explore a bit on our own. Our tour then continued with many other historical points of interest in town. The highlight may have been a beautiful and intricate floor mosaic in an obscure location that most people probably don’t even know exists. Mat also shared with us his knowledge of architecture which added further to the interest of this tour. Mat was enthusiastic and happy to answer questions; communication with us in organizing the tour was clear and responses were timely. Advice to others: I. Summer it can be extremely hot and, as advertised, this is a walking tour so be prepared! Water, sunscreen, hat, and be ready to cover some ground and keep up with Matijas!

Our tour with "Matt" was great and so much fun. The love for the country is quite evident from the many stories we were told while walking around the town. Probably more important than the actual tour itself was the way Matt fixed a self-made problem without missing a beat. A tip for future travelers, beware Pula has 2 separate ports in 2 separate cities, 40km apart! Even though your cruise may list Pula as the port you may actually dock in the port of Rovinj. A tour guide who can change things on the fly to accommodate his guests is a quality not always found, however Matt did just that and did an amazing tour in his old home town of Rovinj, and without any uncharge for last minute changes. Highly recommended.

Matt is an excellent guide. Both personable and knowledgeable, he made our tour of the arena and the old town a day we won't forget. I highly recommend Matt for a wonderful outing in Pula. Thanks Matt!

What a great tour! Our time with Matijas Sekulic gave us a wealth of information about the history of Pula and its main sites, as well as a sense of life today in Pula. His stories helped bring the Pula Arena to life, and gave us a sense of the many events that have shaped Pula. I think sometimes tourists don't realize that there is a difference between "seeing" a place and gaining some knowledge of the place you are visiting. Having a knowledgeable (and funny) tour guide like Matijas provides a tourist with a much richer experience. So thank you, Matijas!

We took a walking tour of Pula that featured the Arena and the old town, and it was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend going inside the Arena, it’s completely worth it. Our guide’s knowledge of history was incredible, and the way he wove stories into the experience brought the city’s past vividly to life. His storytelling skills made the tour engaging from start to finish, adding depth and color to the landmarks we visited. We left with a much greater appreciation for both the Arena and Pula’s rich history. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to connect with the city beyond the surface!

Although we arrived at a different port, he me us and gave us a wonderful tour of Rovinj. The mistake was ours, but we made the best of it.
