Best of Split Private Tour

Jelena was an absolutely wonderful guide. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a great communicator. I’m not sure of all the languages that she offers her tours in, but her English is flawless. She was a delight to spend some time with, and I would be very happy to go on any tour she offers. In addition to her historical knowledge, it was also nice to hear some about her time growing up in the area in the 1980’s and 90’s.

This tour of Split should be on everyone’s to do list, especially when the tour guide is Jelena. Jelena met us exactly as planned and quickly engaged us all in a description of Split. She shared her knowledge of the history and culture of the town and area in an adept interactive way. She answered our questions and was attentive to our interests and needs. She had a good sense of humor and really made this easy walking tour a joy. Jelena guided us through the substructure of Diocletian’s Palace and gave a fascinating description of the function and architecture of the space underneath the palace. Then a short walk up brought us to the palace. Jelena explained about the cultural and historical influences, and how and why the palace is now a showplace of residences and shops and eateries. There was time for pictures, shopping, and a rest stop for coffee and a chocolate treat. This was a fabulous tour, with a wonderful, delightful knowledgeable guide. Thank you Jelena. Jelena was a fabulous guide, very knowledgeable and a joy to spend the morning with. In addition to the tour she provided us great recommendations for shopping and dinning in Split and Hvar. We will certainly reach out to her for out next holiday in Croatia.

Jelena’s private tour of Split was amazing and worth every penny. Just book with her already! She was knowledgable and engaged the entire time. It was great learning about Split from her and the great historical context she provided. She really made sure to explain in detail how the cellars/basement of the palace functioned in Diocletians time and changed over the years. As she was explaining how the cellars have the same room above them you could really get an appreciation and understanding of how the palace once looked. But above all her great knowledge and passion for giving the tour, she was just a pleasure to spend time with and went above and beyond to ensure the tour worked for our group. We were three people, including a four year old that she did a great job of keeping engaged and recognizing when he might need special attention. In the palace she really got him jumping around and happy when she started singing “Wheels on the Bus” in the acoustic room. Yes that happened and he joined in. Haha! Or how she noticed he liked spotting pigeons and she kept pointing them out as well or challenging him to spot or count them which he loved. All while still teaching adults about Split. She then even treated us to some chocolate! One final treat was taking us to the fish market to buy her fish since she thought the four year old boy would like it, and he did of course! She was also great about giving honest reviews and opinions on places to eat which was helpful as that can be overwhelming. Then after the tour she sent me a bunch of information about Dubrovnik completely without us asking, which has been extremely helpful already. We just got here and already have gone to the Franciscan monastery on her recommendation for their old world cream recipes from the longest running European pharmacy. We had no idea such a unique item existed there but thanks to her we have some great unique gifts to bring home. And we will definitely take advantage of her food recommendations and just general advice she provided that she actually tailored to us knowing our group and what might interest us. She didn’t just copy and paste some information, she took the time to help make our Dubrovnik stay even better. I just wish I could give 10 stars! Thanks Jelena!
