The description below is just indicative. Like real locals, we meet each other under the Arch of Galerius. Our walking tour may start from the Rotonda. The White Tower might be considered Thessaloniki's landmark, but Rotonda is really unique since it has a rich history of 1700 years. Romans, Greeks and Ottomans have left their imprint. The Church of Hagia Sofia is our next stop. Visiting a greek orthodox church always hides some interesting surprises. While walking the town center, I can show you how locals spent their free time, which are desserts they enjoy the most and why students from all over Greece are so happy living here! The Catacombs of St. John the Baptist can also be a short stop for us, to see the different street level and explain the reasons. After walking Tsimiski street, we end up to the White Tower. Reaching the top will give us a wonderful opportunity for some great pictures!
We spent the day with Panagiotis, and we enjoyed our time with him tremendously. He is very knowledgeable about history and the culture of Thessaloniki. We walked the city with him for several hours and wandered the small streets and saw many important sites in the area. He took us to the locations we desired, and he accommodated the tour for our liking. We visited many Jewish sites in the city as we requested. We highly recommend Panagiotis as your guide.
We learned a lot of history about the city and enjoyed local pastry, compliments of our guide. He was very helpful and answered all our questions about life in Thessaloniki. Our group of 12 spent an amazing day touring Pella and Vergina with Panos. He organized excellent transportation for our group. Panos was very passionate and knowledgeable of the history and was excellent at explaining it to our group in an understandable way. He gave us so much background information as we travelled between sites, answering any questions we had.
