"As long as Thessaloniki exists, no one can ever feel like an outcast" (N. Choumnos, 14th-c) Hello, and welcome! My name is Panagiotis. I feel content that Thessaloniki—the most charming and hospitable city in Greece—has always been my home. After finishing high school, I decided to channel my passion for the past into studying History and Archaeology at Aristotle University, where I earned my BA. Today, as a fully licensed tour guide throughout Greece, I share the endless stories of my city with travelers who are fascinated by history, art, theology, architecture, and archaeology—or who are simply interested in exploring Thessaloniki through the eyes of a local. I offer a wide variety of tours—some of which you won’t find listed here on Tours by Locals. Whether you’re looking to explore the past, take an interesting walk through our vibrant neighborhoods, or follow culinary trails through Thessaloniki’s famous flavors, I would be more than happy to assist you. In just a few minutes or hours from Thessaloniki—Philippi, Beroea (Veria), Xanthi, Kastoria, Florina, Lake Kerkini, Meteora, Pella, Vergina, and many more—Northern Greece always offers pleasant surprises that meet all kinds of travelers' expectations. Feel free to get in touch with me and plan the perfect itinerary. Enjoy your stay in Greece! Credentials: • BA in History & Archaeology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki • Licensed & Qualified Tourist Guide, University of the Aegean (Rhodes) • Certificate of Proficiency in English, University of Michigan • HeriQ Certificate in Heritage Storytelling, Quality Interpretation No restrictions.

We cannot live in the past but we can learn from it! If you are looking for an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Thessaloniki's people and history, this is the right tour for you. Every time I walk through the Archaeological Museum of my hometown, it is like my first. It is a place where enthusiasm never ends. Let me introduce you to Thessaloniki's rich past: strong personalities, durable monuments, beautiful artefacts and all the necessary explanations. We will see how people of Macedonia gradually organized their lives in communities and founded the first cities. We will travel back in time, from the birth of the Macedonian Kingdom in the 7th century BC to the Late Antiquity and will follow Thessaloniki's first steps as the Metropolis of Macedonia. Undoubtedly, the exhibition "The Gold of Macedon" will give us a wonderful opportunity to talk about art, detail and beauty.
Meet me at the entrance of the Archaeological Museum Enjoy your private tour for approximately 2 hours (we might have a break) Some of the main highlights: • The Krater of Derveni • The statues of mythological heroes • The Derveni Papyrus (UNESCO Memory of the World Register) • Gold diadems • Mosaic floors with mythological scenes Tip: let me know if you need to adjust our tour to your kids' curiosity and imagination!
