Hello, travelers. My name is Sonia. I live in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Philology and a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics. My studies were interdisciplinary and took place in the Schools of Philosophy in two Greek Universities (Ioannina and Thessaloniki) and included various aspects of classical studies such as ancient Greek and Latin literature, general linguistics, the ancient Greek and Latin languages, history, art, and other related fields. During my university years, I also immersed myself in the culture, history, and ontology of modern Greece, which I consider integral in understanding the Greek psyche. I am a graduate of the two-year School of Tourist Guides of the Greek Ministry of Tourism. I deeply love interacting with people, and this is one of the main reasons I love being a guide so much. I additionally really enjoy sharing with travelers the culture of Greece, which includes history, archaeology, art, literature, food, music, and many more things. I really love nature, animals, music, and all other forms of art. I will be very happy to discuss with you various ideas about tours we can have together. Customizing tours that match the interests of travelers is one of the things I find very important when guiding, also. I invite you to explore Northern Greece with me. I promise it will be an unforgettable experience.

In this tour we explore an often overlooked chapter of ancient Greek history, the world of the Ancient Macedonians. Under Philip II and his son Alexander the Great, Macedonia rose from a regional kingdom to a power that reshaped the ancient world. Their conquests carried Greek language, ideas, and culture far beyond the Aegean, turning them into a shared legacy across continents. Together we trace these remarkable origins by visiting the first Macedonian capital, Aegae, today’s Vergina. The experience culminates with a visit to the extraordinary royal tombs, including the tomb of Philip II, where archaeology and history come vividly to life.
• Travel from Thessaloniki to Vergina, ancient Aegae. • Guided visit to the Royal Tombs, including the tomb of Philip II. • Tour of the New Museum of Aegae, exploring the history and legacy of the Macedonian kings. • Visit to the Palace of Philip II, the ceremonial heart of ancient Macedonia. • Return journey to Thessaloniki.
