Γειά σας! ("Hello" in Greek) I am Eleni, I am Greek, born and bred in Thessaloniki! I just can't imagine me living anywhere else! My city has a powerful magnet that I am sure it will attract you as well! It inspired poets and composers that wrote poems and songs for her, (yes, its "her", a woman, as Greeks say, I will explain everything in person!). Moreover, its a town where East meets West, it's the city that Kemal Attatourk was born, where Apostole Paul preached and sent his first and second letters to the Thessalonians and where the Jews went after being expeled from Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain in 1492. A city where you meet history in every corner, a city famous for its magnificent food and exceptional sweets as well as for the relaxing walks by the sea. Come to see with your own eyes that despite the financial crisis Southern Greeks didn't lost their "kefi", enthousiasm and love for life! In 2011, the annual publication of «Louis Vuitton City Guide - European Cities», included Thessaloniki in the "unexpected cities" because of the wine and culinary experience it offers. That same year, the newspaper «New York Times» included Thessaloniki " in the top 41 destinations to be visited in 2011". At the same time, the Australian newspaper «Sun Herald», added Thessaloniki at the proposed European travel destinations. Now, about me: I work in a Day Center for elderly people with memory problems. I designed a non-pharmacological intervention for elderly people with mild to moderate depression to visit the sightseeings of our town (for a period of 4 months). It had really good results and I had really enjoyed it so much that I decided to work as a guide as well! I hope to cheer you up too! I provide tours in English (and Greek of course)! I encourage you to ask me whatever you want to and tell me where to focus to meet your interests. As a person I am optimistic, patient and enthousiastic! I love travelling and communicating with people from different cultures! In my free time I love to go out with my friends in tavernas and cafes, to sing, to dance, to climb on mountains, to swim, to read literature and to do window-shopping! So, take advantage of my enthousiasm and passion for what I do and let me show you my city, it's history, legends, the life of the average people, everything through the eyes of a local! I have a driving license and I own a small car so we can use it to go whenever we want to (up to 4 adults!) I have a degree in psychology and a diploma in psychodrama, psychotherapy. I have a degree in "Greek Civilization" Please be aware that only licenced guides can do tours inside museums so we can visit these places together but I have to make my comments before we enter.

You decide the place you want to visit near Thessaloniki and off we go! During summer we can stop for a swim in the crystal clear waters of Platamonas and visit its castle in only 2 hours (approximately) drive from Thessaloniki. Or Kastoria, and its famous lake. Or Chalkidiki for a swim. Or. . . . . you decide! Look at the photos below and pick up a place! (P. S We can visit whatever place you want but it has to be maximum 2-3 hours far from Thessaloniki and not more! You wouldn't like to spend half the day on the car anyway!) I am always open for any suggestions and we can adjust the schedule and duration so as to meet your needs. Just let me know of any special requests you may have!

Excellent tour guide. I had a great time. Highly recommended.
Eleni's knowledge of her home town of Thessaloniki and Greek culture and history is encyclopedic. She is the most gracious guide, an excellent driver and by the end of our tour our friend! Would highly recommend her to those traveling to Thessaloniki.
We set up an outside Thessaloniki tour with Eleni, and she was very, very flexible and accomodating for the entire process from booking through stopping numerous times for impromptu photo opportunities. She was very pleasant company and answered our relentless barrage of questions about everything from history, agriculture, politics, culture, and geography with great patience.
We spent a special day with this special person! She knows her city and all of the back alleyways and short cuts to get to where we needed to go. A super driver! I had contacted her beforehand to let her know two locations special to me because of family history. She found both sites and talked our way past closed doors and guarded gates. It was fun to watch her work her magic, and I was pleased to share with her my search for key place markers from my childhood. She showed us the modern city as well!
Elena was a good driver, timely, very knowledgeable and spoke English very well. My husband and I would recommend using her with confidence!
This is a tour that you and me make the intinerary before the tour! I am always open for any suggestions and we can adjust the schedule and duration so as to meet your needs. Just let me know of any special requests you may have!
