The Royal Tombs of Vergina & Pella - Full Day Tour from Thessaloniki

The Archaeological Museum at Pella and the Polycentric at Vergina are fascinating museums. To appreciate the artifacts in these museums (which represent a storied part of Greek history and culture) a casual visitor, like me, needs a very knowledgeable guide who can elucidate the historical facts, stories and lores into a presentation that takes the visitor's knowledge and understanding to the next level. In that respect, I am very pleased to write this 5-star review for my tour guide Panagiotis. Both tours were very good opportunities to learn and appreciate the contributions of one of the greatest civilizations. Panagiotis does an excellent job of effortlessly communicating Greece's complex history and its culture. I was very impressed with how Panagiotis explained the influence of Philip II and Alexander The Great on the history of Greece and subsequent empires (Romans, Ottomans, British, etc) and how, even today, we "speak Greek" in many ways . Even though he is very knowledgeable he is not overbearing when conversing with his clients. He talks to the level of his client's knowledge and interests. There was ample time to ask questions and the answers were always thorough and to the point. I am very happy that I chose Panagiotis for my tours and look forward to touring with him again during my next visits to Greece, and will be pleased to recommend him to family and friends.

We had an excellent full-day excursion with Panos. He is very knowledgeable about history and archeology. The tour was well-paced and we never felt rushed. Panos talked about highlights at each site then we could wander and ask him questions. He is personable and friendly.

If you are a history buff, this tour is definitely for you! This tour was our third with Panos during our stay in Thessaloniki and we could not have been happier to spend the time with him. The royal tombs were amazing and a definite must see. The archeology site at Pella was incredibly interesting made all the more so with Panos’s insights and expertise.
