Just a simple thought: "If past is a forgotten place, we have to feel it till we understand it" Welcome to the city of Thessaloniki! The city of mystery and hidden truths... The city of ghosts... I am Chrysa! I am a graduate archaeologist and certificate educator in experiential approach of history and archaeology. I was born and raised in Thessaloniki. My family is among the oldest in the city, so my knowledge of it's unseen gems is quite extensive. But except the knowledge by blood, is the passion for history and exploration that characterizes me. Thessaloniki is a city like no other. All those years that I am working as a museum guide or tour guide I knew that nothing can be more important and meaningful like the sense of the heart of the city and it's past. And there are many ways to do that. Either walking on the narrow streets of Ano Poli or standing frond of the Old Harbor or even tasting fine delicacies in Kapani and Modiano Market. The possibilities are many, the stories are endless. The choice is up to you to choose your story. If you also want to make a special tour based on your own very interest or historical time or even a specific historical event of the city, we can of course discuss it and make it. If you are curious - or even brave enough- it would be my pleasure to invite you to a journey into the mysterious unknown. And how known? Maybe you could feel the echo of a ghost of the city passing through... I only guide in English - History and Archaeology Bachelor Degree (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) - Certificate of Lower in English (Michigan University) - Certificate of Lower in English (City&Cuilds) - Certificate of Proficiency in English ( TOEIC) - Certificate Educator in experiential approach of history and archaeology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens)

Many historians wonder "What could be the city of Thessaloniki without the Ottomans?". Probably, it wouldn't be one of the most known cities of the Ottoman Empire and the so-called jewel of northern Greece during that time. Thessaloniki is very closely related to its Ottoman past shaping not only the history but the form of the city itself. On this very special and one-of-a-kind walking tour, we will experience life during the Ottoman age of Thessaloniki and explore places and monuments you will never see on any other tour. Keep in mind that most of the monuments that we going to visit are close to the public so we see them from outside. This is a walking tour with many stops so it could be a good idea to bring enough water or maybe snacks and of course appropriate shoes.
Our stops will be the following starting from the top of the city and ending near the port: -Fortness of Eptapyrgion -Triangular Tower -The faucet of Namica Hanum -The Mosque of Musa Baba -The poorhouse of Alaja Imaret -The ottoman faucet of Olympiados street -Geni Hamam -Bey Hamam -Hamza Bey Mosque -The Market of Bezesteni -Giahundi Hamam -The Tower of Vardaris
