Guide #33610
Nice to meet you! My name is Monique, which is a French name but I’m completely Dutch. My grandfather came from a family of famous Tulip traders and there’s even a bulb named after the family. I’ve always lived close to Amsterdam and fell in love with the city as a child. After moving here 25 years ago, it’s still my favorite place to live and work in. With a background in journalism, I’ve always had a broad curiosity and a love for stories. That’s also what I enjoy about guiding: sharing the history, beauty, anecdotes and interesting details that make Amsterdam, its canals, the buildings and the art come alive. I love to connect history, architecture, modern life, people and art in the city. And I have a great passion for the wonderful works in the museums. Both the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum are some of my favorite places imaginable. I also have a special interest in the Jewish history in Amsterdam, including the WWII and Anne Frank. In all of these I have an extensive experience in guiding. I’m especially happy when I can make you experience the city the best way. Whether you’re looking for a deep understanding of the city or a museum, or if you’re mostly looking for the special spots and highlights with your kids, all is possible. Over the past 10 years, I’ve guided many different guests on all kinds of private tours through Amsterdam. Therefore I can easily customize a tour for you. You’re very welcome to tell me what you’d like to explore, even if it’s not mentioned on my profile page. I’m happy to create a special itinerary for you. I am *Experienced tour guide (11 years already!) * A college graduated and experienced former journalist * With my own business I’m registered at the Chamber of Commerce * Licensed guide in Amsterdam City Center *Official guide in the Rijksmuseum *Official guide in the Van Gogh Museum

We had such a great first day in Amsterdam with Monique! She was so warm and knowledgeable! We cannot say enough good things about her.
Monique is a wonderful host and guide with a wealth of knowledge about WW2 Amsterdam and the Jewish community in Amsterdam that she loves to share. She also gave us a great and complete overview of Anne Frank and her family. It all made for a very memorable day in Amsterdam. She also kindly obtained tickets for us for the Anne Frank House visit so that we would not...
This was our 3rd and final tour with Monique in Amsterdam. My wife really wanted to visit Zaanse Schans and see the town and of course the working windmills just outside of Amsterdam. We were grateful we did, it was a great way for us to spend our final 1/2 day in Amsterdam. The day was a little wet, but we could easily naviagate the walk to be in a shop or Windmill to...
