Hello! My name is Adriaan. I am an historian and an experienced tour guide in my hometown Amsterdam. Besides that I am a photographer who makes reportages on various hotspots in the world. Amsterdam is beautiful and Amsterdam is fantastic! Are you new, do you just want to explore the city or you didn't had time to read the brochures? Be my guest. It has a fascinating history, unalike many other European cities. Indeed, stories to tell. After my tour you see the city with different eyes. During our walk along iconic places I tell you in an understandable way (with Amsterdam humor) about the history and background of the city. The general history completed with anecdotes. When you visit the Rijksmuseum and/or make a boat tour along the canals afterwards you see the city differently. Master Degree in History (modern and contemporary history). Licensed and experienced guide living in the city centre of Amsterdam. Reportage photographer. For newspapers and NGO's I make stories in different hotspots in the world. - Most museums don't allow tour guides. I will guide towards the best museums! - Groups larger than 15 people are not allowed by the Amsterdam municipality. - I provide walking tours only. The city centre is small enough to have fantastic walks!

The rise and also fall of the Dutch Empire in the 17th century (The 'Golden' Age), the 17th century buildings, the immigrants, the connection with the sea and beyond, etcetera. We did the tour and first morning in town and saw a lot of sites and found the places we wanted to visit again. He gave us great tips for places to visit and eat.
