I am Yvonne, specialized in Amsterdam tours. Born Dutch, traveled the world, living in Amsterdam. I love history, architecture, legendary stories and culture. Whether you are interested in an overview tour, a tour of multiple days, a tour for a special occasion, if you have plans to work or study in Amsterdam, a tasting, a theme, walking or in combination with boat I like to organize the experience for you. Originally from the South West of the Netherlands, my private tour will offer you a view of Amsterdam, as a local would see it, including little known facts from a point of view only a local would have. I've traveled for many years around the world: I made a world trip, visited India three times and had the opportunity to do volunteer work in one of the houses founded by Mother Teresa; Went on a bicycle road trip through the Western United States from New Mexico to the Canadian border; and visited South America and Spain more than once. I am also an experienced tour guide. While living and working for several years in Mexico, I organized and led two, three and four week trips throughout Mexico and Central America. One of my best memories is leading a trip to Guatemala where my group and I helped locals with the construction of houses in poor villages. After returning to the Netherlands I settled in Amsterdam where I live in a lively neighborhood in which many different nationalities and cultures are represented. Making connections with cultures from all over the world is something I am passionate about. My 3 hour private walking tour gives you the opportunity to discover Amsterdam. Besides the old town we visit Dam square and you experience our world famous canal district. Admire the former houses of the rich merchants and take pictures on scenic bridges. And there is so much more to see because as a resident of Amsterdam I like to show you the less known places. I love local products with a nice story and buildings and places with a special history. As with all of my tours I individualize each tour based on what YOU want to see. During this tour there is an option to taste local delicacies or I give you suggestions for the best local shops. I will tell you about the history of Amsterdam, from the earliest origin, the 17th Century and the influence on our life nowadays. After my tour you will not only know more about Amsterdam and its inhabitants. If you like I can also give you recommendations for places to visit, restaurants, shops and public transport. A complete introduction to the city!

We can not say enough about Yvonne and the walking tour she took us on! She picked an easy and convenient meeting place as we were taking the train in from Utrecht. Her knowledge of Amsterdam and its history was impressive and we felt comfortable asking lots of questions. She tied the history of Amsterdam to broader regional and global history and events. As we were leery of crowded Amsterdam streets, Yvonne did a great job making sure we saw the highlights but also spent time in the less crowded places and, at our request, focused on architecture and history of urban development. We really appreciated her response to the few questions she didn't know the answer to - she emailed us the information the next day! We are walkers, and Yvonne set a nice pace allowing us to cover a lot of ground getting a great introduction to the city. We have done other guided tours and feel like sometimes the guides have a set route and information they deliver and our willingness to keep walking and to keep up the pace make them run out of material too early. Not Yvonne, she had so much information and observations to share! We highly recommend her and had a very memorable day.

Walking tour with Yvonne was excellent in every way, even with cold and rainy weather. She tailored the tour to our interests and was extremely knowledgeable about everything. She took us to places we probably wouldn’t have found on our own. She showed us sites that were painted by famous artists and emailed us a directory of where to find them in the Rijksmuseum. She was also very gracious and a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely book her for a future trip.
