Nice to meet you! My name is Monique and I’m a true Dutchie, born and raised in the Netherlands. I’ve always lived close to Amsterdam and fell in love with the city as a child. After moving here 25 years ago, it’s still my favorite place in the world. With a background in journalism, I’ve always had a broad curiosity and a love for stories. That’s also what I enjoy about guiding: sharing the anecdotes, details and fun facts that make Amsterdam and everything you see come alive. I love history, culture, architecture and local shops. Yet my biggest passion is the art in the museums, where I have been guiding almost daily in the past years. I also have a special interest in the Jewish history in Amsterdam, including the WWII and Anne Frank. I’m especially happy when I can make you experience the city the best way. Whether you’re looking for a deep understanding of the city or a museum, or just the special spots and highlights, all is possible. Over the past 11 years, I’ve guided many different guests on all kinds of private tours through Amsterdam. Therefore I can easily customize a tour for you. Many tours can also be combined into a half-day or full-day experience, for example a city walk with a museum visit, or a day full of art, history, local life and local tastings along the way. You’re very welcome to tell me what you’d like to explore, even if it’s not mentioned on my profile page. I’m happy to create a special itinerary for you. I have: *Bachelors degree in Journalism *Experienced tour guide (11 years) * License to guide in Amsterdam City Center *Official guide in the Rijksmuseum *Official guide in the Van Gogh Museum Just to mention: I do also guide in the smaller villages / countryside around Amsterdam. I’m not a driver though. But if you wish to, I can arrange a driver for us.

Explore two of Amsterdam's most iconic museums in one inspiring tour. We begin at the Rijksmuseum, where the world of 17th Century paintings comes alive. You will see the masterpieces by the Dutch Masters, like Rembrandt's Night Watch and Vermeer’s Milkmaid, while you get to know the painters and their time better. After a break we'll continue to the Van Gogh Museum. This will be a different experience, since the museum is all about Vincent Van Gogh. I will take you through his life by looking at the largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world. Find out all about his intense personality and the colours and emotions is his beautiful works. Learn about the special friendship with his brother Theo and the influence of other painters, like the Impressionist Monet. I’m an expert guide in both museums and will take you on a special journey through Dutch art. *PLEASE NOTE: Please contact me before you book! For this tour I will need special 'tour' tickets for the Van Gogh Museum.
