Walda was a wonderful guide for our private tour. She took us to the prized exhibits at the Rijkmuseum and was incredibly knowledgeable about everything we saw, providing full backgrounds about the artists and the works themselves. As an experienced guide, she was able to get us to the front of any line and helped us with logistics such as the coatroom, rest rooms, and gift shop. We expected to be amazed by the Rijkmuseum -- and we were -- but our visit with Walda to Rembrandt's home was an unexpectedly fascinating surprise. Such an interesting place in its own right, but she made Rembrandt come alive during the tour of his house. In between, we had a relaxing and beautiful private tour of the historic parts of Amsterdam on a beautiful 1903-vintage boat, with excellent food and wine. Throughout, Walda was a knowledgeable, engaged, and fun companion who answered every question. Definitely a go-to guide in Amsterdam.
Recently my wife and myself had the opportunity to tour with Walda B in Amsterdam visiting both the Rijks and Van Gogh Museums. Walda was simply excellent. Her knowledge and expertise in art history made the tour a true 5 Star experience. Walda provides the "back story" behind the artists which provides the insight you do not pick up in guide books. Walda was an outstanding guide and an extraordinary art historian. Her knowledge of art was beyond impressive, spanning everything from the Dutch masters to modern art, and she made the experience engaging, accessible, and genuinely memorable. Because guided tour slots were no longer available at the Van Gogh Museum, Walda had created a thoughtful written handout that served as a self-guided version of her tour. It worked superbly. She gave us an in-person introduction beforehand, and then was available afterward to answer questions, which made the experience feel seamless and personal despite the museum’s restrictions. Our time with her at the Rijksmuseum was equally excellent. She brought the artwork to life with context, insight, and enthusiasm, and her love of art was truly contagious. She was also flexible and gracious when our plans needed adjusting. I would highly recommend Walda to anyone looking for a deeply knowledgeable, warm, and highly engaging private museum guide in Amsterdam.
