Hello! My name is Adriaan. I am an historian and an experienced tour guide in my hometown Amsterdam. Besides that I am a photographer who makes reportages on various hotspots in the world. My tour is full of personal anecdotes. My family and their friends told me many, many stories about their experiences during the Second World War. Amsterdam has never been bombed during the Second World War but it has suffered a lot. During the tour I will tell you about Anne Frank, the Jewish history, the persecution of Jews, the strike in February 1941, the resistance and betrayal, the hunger winter, etcetera. Including stories of my own family. I am a historian and an experienced tour guide in my hometown Amsterdam. After my tour you see the city with different eyes.
This tour was great. Adriaan is extremely knowledgeable about both over Dutch and World War II specific history. He was friendly, very informative, and made sure we saw all of the major highlights during the three-hour tour. Would highly recommend him!
Adriaan showed and explained so much of the history of Amsterdam during the Second World War, both with the history of the Jewish quarter and with the German occupation generally. He was like a director with our walking tour, unveiling one dramatic story after another as we made our way through the city streets. We visited areas I had not seen in Amsterdam previously, so there were a lot of surprises and new discoveries for me. I would recommend his tour highly.

We had a wonderful afternoon with Adriaan! We walked all over the place and saw a lot of things we wouldn’t have found on our own. The tour was a very good prelude to our planned visits to the Resistance Museum and Holocaust Museum the next day. Unfortunately we had to cut our tour short because of extreme jet-lag! Despite that, we felt the tour was well worth it and we would love to tour with Adriaan again if we return to Amsterdam.
An excellent tour to take with historian, Adraain!! We was shown historical sites and places, in adddtion to hearing about the Dutch and especially to e Jews!!! Highly recommend his tour!!!
