Ciao! I am Silvia. I am happy to "virtually" meet you here! This is a wonderful opportunity for me to let you know how much I love my hometown and how proud I am to have had the privilege to be raised in such a unique environment. Venice is totally different from all the other places you may have ever visited in your life; people here are different! Imagine fighting daily against the elements to survive on the water. . . well this is quite a challenge! I am here to help you to understand how this was made possible more than 1500 years ago! I am not only a Licensed Tourist Guide but a Tour Leader too. I have always travelled in my own life and worked as an inbound operator in Venice and all over Italy for more than 15 years, both things combined are definitely a "plus" because I have a strong attitude to problem solving and great experience inside and outside the office which is not always offered by the people working in tourism. I studied at the technical Institute for Tourism in Venice and then got my graduation in foreign languages always working in the tourism business since the very beginning as a hostess doing transfers. The aspect that I love the most about my job is that I always get in touch with new people and I can customize the tours for my clients: age, mobility issues, interests. . . it is always a surprise! All my tours are customizable, we can always make arrangements and adapt the tours to your needs before you book them. Discover the secrets of Venetian Lagoon by private boat. The islands of the northern lagoon were the first settlement chosen by the people living on the mainland even before Venice was founded. Murano, is the first island visited during the tour. Originally known as a holiday resort for venetian noble families, Murano was chosen by the government in 1291 to be the place where to concentrate the glass blowing production to avoid the too many fires caused in town by the furnaces. Burano is like a fairy tale village with its multi-colored houses. Being a fishermen island, houses were painted in unusual colors using the same color of the boats and fishermen could easily find the way back home in the mist of the lagoon. This island is very famous for the lace production and delicious local cookies! Last island is the enchanting Torcello nowadays almost abandoned during the winter season but houses the most ancient church of the Venetian lagoon dating back to 639 AD.
Silvia is a very good guide who provided a delightful tour of glass-making craftsmanship on the island of Murano, the quaint fishing amd lace-making town on Burano and the historic church buildings on Torcello. Silvia is knowledgeable and engaging and provided good understanding of the history of and life on these islands. Thank you to Silvia.
This is my second great review of Silvia as she guided us for two days. On this visit to the islands and Murano and Burano we had a wonderful experience as she showed us around and made sure we got an authentic and representative experience at a Murano Glass studio and shop. In a addition to a great guide, Silvia was cognizant of the fact we had already had a busy day traveling form our cruise ship and did a great job pacing the afternoon to our energy level.
Silvia was fantastic. She escorted us through the islands and shared a wealth of information. We felt that she knew and loved Venice and she shared that appreciation with us. Whatever we asked, she obliged with information and recommendations.
We loved our day with Silvia! She was very accommodating for our desires to spend time in the glass factory on Murano and to guide us through the beautiful island of Burano. Highly recommend booking her for a great day!
Our tour of Murano and Burano with Silvia was fabulous! We spent a beautiful afternoon together with her on a private water taxi to the islands. The glass workshop was truly amazing, we were able to witness true craftsmanship and the creation of beautiful art right before our eyes. The cookies and lacemaking in Burano are a one of a kind. This tour is worth every penny! I debated a long time if it was necessary to spend so much on a half day tour to see Murano and Burano. We had an amazing time with Silvia and the artisans of the Schiavon Art Team. It was so personal and we got to experience the glass artisans at work and learn so many details of this intricate process. We never intended to buy art on this trip, but after our experience we couldn't help ourselves. I highly recommend this experience - absolutely fantastic!!
-The tour will start at your hotel or downtown in order to reach the nearest pier where the private water taxi can stop. -We will first visit the island of Murano, known all over the world for the glass blowing industry and we will watch a demonstration inside one of the few original factories still in activity -We will then move to the next island: Burano. Originally a fishermen's village, it is famous for the bright colors of its small houses and for lace production. -A short break for lunch (or to taste the yummy local cookies) will be given and then we will move on to the last island, Torcello, where ancient ruins of the Venetian civilization can be seen. -We will go back to Venice by private water taxi.
